Any naturals who relaxed? Who regretted it? Who Loved it?
Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed?

When I was relaxed I loved loved loved my hair, I wore it wet and would scrunch it up and wear it down n wavy,or in a bun, and IT GREW JUST FINE... and now with my relaxed hair, I feel uncomfortable and unattractive n just wear it wet in a bun everyydayy!!

DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair? Like it grows slower because your waiting for it to grow?

Just a thought. LoL

When I relaxed my hair after all those years ( I went from bald to APL) it was a nice surprise b/c it seemed like my hair grew in overnight!!I really dont pay attention to my hair like that anymore as far as measuring it and all that.

Just a thought. LoL

Are you asking relaxed heads or naturals who relaxed but then went back to natural?

I have been natural on and off for almost 4 years now. I regretted relaxing the two times I did in that time period. It felt weird having relaxed hair again. I hated how my relaxed hair looked, felt and behaved. It's weird.

I couldn't imagine going back now. I joined LHCF as a natural, so in order to be a relaxed head, I would have to learn all over again from scratch. I also don't think it would as simple for me.

I did!

Who regretted it?
Not me :), I don't regret relaxing, but I do regret that the stylist didn't do what I asked for (texlax).

Who Loved it?
me

Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed?
no, but it had more to do with trying to find the correct products that work for my hair rather than having a relaxer or not

when I first started here, I did way too much to my hair -trying this and that - ended up causing more damage than good. Once I stopped all the foolishness, its been a pretty smooth ride. I had my virgin relaxer on Nov 5th, have been a faithful rollersetter (flatironed one time) and my hair is thanking me for it. I love the ease of styling that I hadn't had for several years. Like I siad before , my only regret is not speaking up to tell the stylist to take the relaxer out so that I would be texlaxed instead of straight - I thought that I had explained what I wanted in the consultation (with pics and everything). So now I'm transitioning to texlaxed, but other than that I love it.

HTH

I was natural for a year, i relaxed in December when i cut my hair off.

Because i didnt want to cut my hair (damage), i did regret relaxing it. But thankfully to LHCF, my hair care routine is keeping my relaxed hair in good condition

I am transitioning to mostly natural products, most of the products that i used when i was natural i still use now (except for the KCC)

For right now I'm sticking to braids for two and half month increments to keep my hands out of my head. The one difference that i will say i do like, is that i can see my new growth coming in. That helps control the impulsive measurement craze i had when i was natural :lachen:

I'm on a quest for long hair (it's EL currently and i want APL by Grad in spring 2011) so I'm keeping my relaxed hair, but i might transition back to natural after that goal is reached. Hoped i could help

Any naturals who relaxed?
Yes, I relaxed after 3.5 years natural

Who regretted it?
No regrets
Who Loved it?
I love the ease of relaxed hair.
Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed?
Aside from shampoo and conditioner, no.

DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair? Like it grows slower because you're waiting for it to grow?
No, because I don't pay too much attention to it. I keep it clean, well conditioned, styled, sleep on satin, and it's off my mind.
My responses are in purple. I may go natural again someday. For now, relaxed hair suits my lifestyle better.

Texlax is relaxing the hair, but not bone straight. You want it like 1/3 relaxed because you want some of the natural texture.

and how do you achieve that? Not keeping the relaxer in as long (more than 5 mins)? I feel like my first relaxer will have to be kept in longer than I use to keep it in to tame all these curls! When i use to get a relaxer she would apply it, and I would go straight to the bowl to get my hair washed.

I was natural from 1999-2004

Who regretted it?
I regretted it after about 2 years. It all went south. Hair can't handle them. I went back to natural.

DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair? Like it grows slower because your waiting for it to grow?
Yes and yes so I went back into braids :) It likes to be left alone anyways

Who regretted it? Who Loved it? I regretted it because I relaxed for all the wrong reasons and transitioned back to natural in 2005.
Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed? yes
I spent more time trying to maintain my relaxed hair than I do with my natural hair and I prefer me in braids.
DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair? Not really, but my husband thinks otherwise.
Like it grows slower because your waiting for it to grow? You know that old saying "a watched pot never boils".

I was relaxed, went natural to get locs, was loc'd 3 1/2 yrs, cut them but stayed natural for about 1 1/2 years, relaxed and almost immediately regretted it (lasted only 10 months). My first relaxer (after being loc'd) was in Dec 2006 my last was the following Oct. Although my hair was healthy and grew while relaxed, I missed the fullness and general feel of my natural hair.

Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed?
I think I use less product as a natural as far as the number of items. I don't worry about protein like I did when relaxed And am not as particular about my routine.

DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair?
No...I feel that I have certain interests/hobbies like anyone else; mine just happen to be my hair :yep:.

Like it grows slower because your waiting for it to grow?
Yes, when I'm focusing on growthit does seem to take forever. But if I get busy on something for else for a few months, or even look back on pictures, I'm amazed at how fast it seems to grow.

Yes, became natural Oct 2005 - Sept 2007 then I went texalaxed from Sept 2007 to Feb 2008 then I went back fully relaxed from Feb 2008 to July 2009. It was a learning experience and I thought I would love going back relaxed now that I had gained a lot of knowledge from LHCF but I soon came to regret it as I missed my natural hair. It's the reason why I went back natural starting July 22nd with my BC. I think natural and relaxed and all the between is beautifu:yep:l. I just think its individual preference.

Do you use the same products now that you have relaxed?
No as most of the products I use are more natural (not because Im natural) but because I loved the ingredients. The only products that have worked regardless of what state my hair is in is Elucence brand and Aphogee.

DO you ever feel like you pay too much attention to your hair? Like it grows slower because your waiting for it to grow?
I do pay a lot of attention to my hair but it's all for learning so that way its routine or habit to keep my hair in the best health as possible. I just remember to be patient and to keep a journal of what works and what doesn't. The first time I went natural i spent sooooo much money on various products hopping on bandwagons or trying the NEW IT product. This time around I find most of my staple products. I still haven't nailed down a staple regiment or moisturizer or oil. :wallbash:
