Twist Out wearers...I have questions!

So when I'm taking down my twists...am I supposed to seperate the strands? Cause this morning I re-twisted some of them...and when I did seperate the strands, they were extra frizzy...Now that may just be because they were wet...(I must say thanks giving me the idea to wash my twists with a stocking cap over my head)...But how do you go about making the twist out a defined one? I'd love for it to be big and fro-y for the wedding I'm going to and I'm going to put a flower in my hair as well!

I recommend waiting until your twists are completely dry before untwisting them. Once they're dry then untwist them and gently separate each piece/strand to get the fullness.

Mine are frizzy...I do about 12 to 16 twists everynight..so the parts are far apart so I pull them apart until its a curly fro...(I'm transitioning)

I use no product other than a leave-in

I haven't followed your twisting method, but are you twisting with any product?

I too would wait until your hair dries before untwisting them.

Definitely wait until they are completely dry. You may want to try a gel like product if you are still having problem, but I usually just use a good leave in/moisturizer and have no problem with excessive frizz.

In addition to waiting until the twists are completely dry, you must make sure each section is detangled very well so that when you 'open' your twists you don't have to fight with them causing them to be frizzy. A well detangled section will seperate neatly when you open them. That's the best advice I've received regarding twist-outs.

Thanks for the advice...well this was my first twisting session...they are medium sized..cause my hair is a twa right now...but I detangled pretty well and when I twisted my hair I used ORS Twist and Loc gel (I think that was the name of it...It came in a sorta clear tub with a purple top)

I didn't want to assume that your hair was still a TWA. The product is good. I think having length also contributes to definition. For me anyway.

in addition to the advice the other ladies gave, i find that moisture keeps my frizz in check so at night when re-twisting, i put a little moisturizer on my hair.
