I know I should know the answer to this but I'm asking to make sure I'm accurate. I BC'd n Jan 20 and I'm just not feeling it at this point and time in my life...I'll most def. transition in the near future tho! anywho I plan on getting a relaxer and I'm going to the salon (She's been doing my hair since I was like 5 or 8 or somewhere in between) anywho here are my questions

1. Now that I'm all natural, Is she going to have to put the relaxer throughout my whole head? Like from root to tip?

The reason I'm asking is b/c when I got my first relaxer which was years ago...I was def. not paying attention to what she was doing lol

2. Will the end result of my relaxer be bone straight or will I still have texture of some sort?

I heard it's not cool to relax bone straight but does that really matter or is it just a preference?

Hope to hear many responses! TIA ladies!:drunk:

I forgot to add that I also have some very overdo cornrolls in my head(they've been in since early january, i got them put in b/c I didn't feel comfortable in my bc) the cornrolls are feed in. My real hair was braided and the weave was added to the end of my real hair. Is it ok for me to take my braids out and relax the same day? my braids are so loose.

If your hair is 100% natural, it’s ok to run your relaxer to the tips, which is actually the proper way to apply the relaxer on virgin hair. Most naturals don’t get the bone straight look the very first time, but then again it depends on the relaxer strength (regular or super) and the smoothing technique your stylist use. Good luck! and let us see the end result...;)

Not sure on the braids...I'm pretty sure you're supposed to wait a while before relaxing hair that's been in braids that long. And yeah, the bone straight thing is a matter of preference, relaxer strength, smoothing technique, and processing time. When are you going to the salon?

2. Will the end result of my relaxer be bone straight or will I still have texture of some sort? that depends on factors like relaxer choice/strength, processing time, smoothing, texture, etc.

I heard it's not cool to relax bone straight but does that really matter or is it just a preference? It's a preference based on what works best for you and your desired result. If you are going to be using blowdryers/flat irons you may want to leave some texture in. Not a hard and fast rule though. It depends on the individual.

1. yes

2. it depends on what you want...i wouldn't go bone straight, that means your hair is more processed (read: weaker)

3. let that hair breathe for a few days...and use that time to do a protein treatment, or whatever it is that people with relaxers do...i mean, even when i had one i didn't do it right, soooo...lol

2. Will the end result of my relaxer be bone straight or will I still have texture of some sort? This will depend on your hair, strength of relaxer and smoothing technique. I will advise you to discuss this with your stylist in great details, particulary if you will like some texture in your hair. He/ She can make the best decision on what type of relaxer, the strength, time of processing etc

I heard it's not cool to relax bone straight but does that really matter or is it just a preference? It's a personal preference and sometimes how your hair responds. I could never get my hair bone straight, and I am also extremely tender headed so could not use super strength. I always had residual wave and volume, even though I was over processing. Wish I understood this clearly when I was relaxing back then.

I know you may not want this right now, have you considered leaving your hair alone for a while, put it in braids or something. I know I felt this way when I initially big chopped. I big chopped 14 months earlier than planned, 10 months instead of 24 months.

With the shrinkage and everything, It was just too short to deal with and all. I am now 8 months natural, and I have to say it gets much better as the hair grow longer. I cant wait till end of the year to flat iron and show my progress.
