Hubby's Hair Tips/Knowledge

I laugh at some of the threads where hubbies have incidentally acquired hair knowledge from the wives on the board. I wanted to know if my husband has incidentally learned anything from me as a result of my membership here.

I've posted his "list" below. Please note, some of this stuff is WRONG!

*Just because you're black, you don't have to use black hair products

*If you don't like a product, take it back even if there's half a bottle left.

*If you don't like the way someone does your hair, don't go back to them.

*Don't let other people cut your hair.

*It's okay to go to separate people for your hair and for your eyebrows. Ideally you'd want the same person but it's okay to drive real far to get your eyebrows done if you have to. (I drive a bit out of the way to get my brows done)

*The longer your hair is, the more stuff you'll need and it will take up all the drawer and cabinet space in both bathrooms-don't ask questions

*Don't wash your hair in the morning. Wash it at night so you can wrap it up and have it ready for in the morning.

*You don't have to get a perm every week. You can space it out.

*Y'all talk about more than hair on the hair board.

*No cursing on the hair board

*You have to take naked pictures of your hair. And even though the back of your head looks the same you have to take 5 or 6 pictures of that particular hair style.

Please note that I do not take pictures naked--jeans and bra is standard for me

My hubby says: "You have to protect the new growth!!" (as opposed to protect the ends) and he pulls down my sleep cap if it's about to come off in the middle of the night :)

My hubby learned:

*If we go to a Target, WalMart, or Family Dollar, we will be spending 1hr looking for the cheapie conditioner deals. (Suave for a dollar etc.)

I brought so much conditioner that he started to cowash his own hair.

LOL I love threads like these. So far all my hubby admits to learning is that Pink oil is a greasy mess and that his beloved 2-n-1 poo/condish is what made his hair dry

This thread is too cute!!

I don't think my hubby really pays much attention to learn anything. Although when he sees me mixing my DCs he calls me a mad scientist :lachen:

Your hubby is a hoot! I'm howling at how attentive he is to the forum and hair details. I don't think my hubby has a clue about anything to do with hair or this forum. He thinks I'm crazy to spend so much time online.

My boyfriend gets me my "sleeping shower cap" as he calls it, if I start to go to bed forgetting my bonnet.

Just asked him:
1. You have to wear safe styles.
2. Heat is bad.
3. Even if you have no hair you can grow it long.
4. Women can unite without hating on each other
5. There is more than nappy or straight hair.

My husband learnt the following:
  • Always sleep with a satin hair bonnet and
  • a Satin pillowcase.
  • Use natural hair products (he even uses evco on his bald head:lachen:)
  • Indian ayuverdic powders are good for hair growth
  • Encourages me to make my own hair products to be sure of what I am using on my hair.:yep:

My DH has learned:

- heat is bad
- weaves are like tap dancing in a mine field... and yet they are addictive :spinning:
- that I am obsessed with hair... he calls me Hair Bear :giggle:
- you can never have enough conditioner
- moisturizer is important
- relaxers are the debil!
- satin sleep bonnets are mandatory
