HELP!!! My hair is coming out like crazy

I am about 7 weeks post and my hair is all over the sink, my comb, brush, everywhere.:( I want to cry. Last night I applied Salerm 21 and Surge 14 then I rolled in magnetic rollers. When I took the rollers out this morning my hair was wrapped around some of the rollers. What's going on with me???

This happened before but I don't remember why. Could it be that time of the year that I shed? I don't know. Should I just apply my touch-up or should I braid it so I don't see the hair. Not sure if it's breakage or fall out.

Help Ladies I need it!

Have u done a protein treatment lately? I would use aphogee.

I thought Keracare Humecto is a protein. I do that every week (not always sitting under the dryer). I'll try the Aphogee but which one should I use?

Hey hair buddy :)

Sorry to hear about the breakage. How often do you usually relax? As many of the ladies have suggested, I would go with a heavy protein tx. When I have shedding or breakage, I use Dudley's DRC. This is about 1x every two months.

Honestly, I'm not familiar with how light proteins combat shedding. I use a light protein every 2 weeks or so, but when shedding increases, DRC stops it immediately. Hope that helps!

Hi Nicole...sorry to hear about your hair woes... :ohwell:

I definitely say yes to the question above. I shed like a dog from October-December. I've come to accept it because it's a yearly occurence, and my hair can be in tip top shape, and this shedding will still visit me. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, but like the other ladies mentioned, you could do protein (Aubrey's GPB, Nexxus Emergencee, ApHOGEE Treatment for Damaged Hair) and/or you could do garlic shampoo. Either of those would probably help with excessive shedding.

Is all or most of the hair shedding or is there a lot of breakage mixed in?? This will make a difference in how you should approach the problem, IMO.

HTH...

I'm sorry you're having this issue and it can be very depressing. I think you should determine first if it's shedding or breakage. If it's shedding it's okay and there is no need to panic unless it's really excessive. If it's breaking then you really need to do a heavy duty protein treatment followed by a deep conditioning and maybe give your hair a break from the setting lotion and roller setting.

Protein treatments help with shedding?!? I thought that it was only breakage...

but yeah, find out if it shedding or breakage...

You can tell if it's a shed hair because it will have a little white clump on the end... which I believe is a small clump of hair cells that are pushed out when the folicle goes into rest mode.

If it doesn't have that little bulb, it's a broken hair.

Try Nutrine Garlic shampoo, this does wonders for my hair. I swear I lose half my hair everytime I wash it, but this really helps!

Are your periods very heavy? Do you feel tired? Are you anemic? Try iron supplement and b12 vitamins see if this helps.

:) Thanks for everyone's input and help. I appreciate it.

So, I wipped my tears and tried a little of everyone's suggestion. I did a garlic shampoo, then Emergencee for protein and finally a mosturizing conditioner. If that doesn't work - relaxer here I come.

Nicole, I had that same problem! My hair was every where! I did the protein treatments and the garlic shampoo and still hair was every! It occured to me that I had not had a relaxer since the first of August. Not everyone can go long periods of time without a relaxer. I envy those that can. I got a relaxer and a trim and my problem was solved! If the treatments don't work I say relax and trim. But know that It will stop. So don't cry "dry ya eye"!

This was happening to me about 2 weeks ago and I was about 12 weeks post relaxer. My hair was coming out in long strands. I used every conditioner recommended including Elasta QP breakage control serum and Nexxus Emergencee followed by a moisturizing deep conditioner and NOTHING HELPED.
I decided to clarify my hair with a gentle clarifying shampoo, followed by a moisturizing shampoo with carrot oil by Sentonics and then deep condtioned with a Essations Super charged moisturiing conditioner ( which had failed me before I decided to clarify). my hair stopped shedding all together! All I need was to clarify. I didnt want to take any chances by stretchng any longer so I went for my touch up last weekend.
No more shedding whatsoever.

Id try clarifying! It saved me!

This post has been a god send....I have been reading and reading and responded earlier but the same thing is actually happening to me too. This coming weekend I am coming up on 12 weeks post (first time I have stretched this long) and just the last two weeks I started co-washing every day or every other day and pooing and deep conditioning once a week....My hair is shedding (seeing the bulbs at the tips) even as I detangle it in the shower and once I get out as well. At first I thought I just wasn't using enough detanglers, moisturizers, to comb it and detangle it, but once I detangle it, put it in a bun and let it air dry, as I go to take my bun down and comb two days later, hair just comes out in the comb like nobody's business. I bought the Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor 2 weeks ago and I just went and bought the sample size of the Aphogee for Damaged Hair tonight....Want to use it this weekend. I am going to try the garlic hot oil treatment and do a clarifying shampoo (along witht he Aphogee) this weekend and if that doesn't work I will go on a schedule a perm for next week....

I agree with that statement...not everyone can go a long time without relaxing...when I first started my hair journey, my hair wasn't able to go long periods of time w/o a relaxer...I had started off relaxing at 6 weeks, then I worked my way up to 8 weeks, then 10, and now 13...you would probably have to train your hair to wait longer between touch-ups...If your hair has a decent amount of new growth worth relaxing...then I would go ahead and relax right now...but first try out all the recommendations given by the ladies...and I hope all goes well for you!!!:)

Hello
I wonder if I could chip in. Well about two months ago, I was having this very same probem. I went to a salon in Brooklyn where the hairdresser was deadly honest. He said. There is nothing that Ican do with your hair, Ican't color it, Ican't twist it, all I can do is cut it off. There is something very wrong with your hair, its shedding while I wash it and this is not external damage, it is internal. " I was devastated as he cut off my years worth of trashy hair growth. But I also had to investigate what was going on for me. So I booked an appt with a dermatologist. This doctor did some blood tests and found out that my ferritin (the iron that is stored in your bone marrow as a reserve was practically non-existent.) level was 2 (it is supposed to be between 10-232 and you need it at 70 to grow hair. So I was started on iron supplements ASAP. I have since raised my iron levels to 10 in one month. But I am working on eating iron rich foods. My hair has responded to this therapy remarkably well. It is not breaking off in my hand any more. It has a healthier texture and the areas near my temple that were bald are now growing back. I hope this helps. Coz trust me I tried every conditioner, deep conditioner, protein under the sun and sometimes you have to look deeper within.
