Somthing Is Going Wrong

Ok so I did my typical co-wash and dc today. In the shower I noticed a lot of hair coming out, way more than usual. When I finished dcing and I got ready to set my hair I combed through it and I got more hair coming out. I put it in a low loose bun to airdry. I don't know what's wrong. Does this look like a lot of shedding to you? I checked almost every piece and they all had the white bulbs so that that clearly means it's shedded and not broken. I would say I lost double the amount in the picture when counting the hair in the shower.

How long is your hair again? That's probably about 10 strands of hair in that ball :lachen:.

So... my 20 weeks post shedding self says NO, it's not a lot of hair.

Girl, bye!

Girl I just did the same Dc 3 days ago and I had way less hair. I said double the hair in the pic. That's just some of the hair I saved, but if you usually don't get a lot of shedding and one day you do. Something is wrong right?

Ya'll I am touching my hair and it's just coming out right and left. I am definitely worried.

Seriously, if you didn't put any type of new product/growth aides on your hair then I would say you are probably just going through a time period of increased shedding. A shedding season some may call it.

Even if that ball was 4 times larger than the pic, I wouldn't consider that alot of shedding.

Did you do a protein treatment? I know for a fact that when this happens to me, when I do one....my hair stops that abnormal shedding.

Can't hurt to try it, right?

That's not a lot if you have long hair, and you have long hair. Sometimes you may not shed a lot but at other times you will, especially as seasons change. Some people have growth increases in warm seasons, some people have increased shedding.

You know your hair though. And if you think it's a lot, then maybe it is. Idk.

So many people talk about using garlic to decrease shedding, maybe you should try that.

Have you been taking any new supplements lately or done anything different to your hair recently?

And I'm in agreement that it may just seasonal shedding if you haven't changed your regimen at all.

Ok maybe it's seasonal. I never noticed it before. I don't get my growth spurts in the summer I get them in the winter. Nice & Wavy I use Aphogee 2 minute 2 times a week. I'm going to try the sups.

Did you use it during this wash? If so, then maybe it is normal for you.

If that small amount is alarming to you, then you are doing great! If I only shed that much I would be extremely happy.

But honestly, if you think this is abnormal for your hair I would definitely try to figure out what happened this time.

Thanks ladies for the responses. Ya'll took the edge off my worry. I'm going to watch my hair for a bit and see what happens. I should only be worried if I was having breakage.

Or if you're shedding much more than 100 hairs a day when you comb it regularly and your hair appears to be thinning or you're having bald spots or your scalp has a sensation that you're not used to accompanying the excessive shedding or thinning or balding.

Keep in mind, if you're on a low manipulation regi, when you next detangle or comb your hair, it'll appear to shed more just cause all the daily shedding was caught within your hair and falls out on the day you comb. Doesn't mean it all shed that very day.

Ohh maybe that is it. I did the flexi rod set on Thursday and since then I buned and didn't detangle at all. I don't usually do low manipulation so I didn't think about the fact that I hadn't detangled in few days.

It's probably just your shedding time; we all have them, but most folks freak out about it since being on LHCF. Perhaps you are noticing it more this time around. It will stop unless you have an illness and doubt that you do.

It's normal. Don't worry about it. If you honestly feel you are shedding more than usual just try to get sufficient sleep, practice relaxation techniques if you are undergoing stress, and make sure your eating a balanced, nutritious diet and drinking plenty of water. Garlic is good if you are shedding excessively. But, in my honest opinion, what your experiencing isn't abnormal.

P.S. Certain things strengthen hair follicles, such as rosemary, sage, brahmi, nettle, coltsfoot, and horsetail (rosemary and sage work well together; so do brahmi, nettle, and coltsfoot).

I think that's exactly what it is. When I do flexi sets or braidouts, there's usually a lot more hair on the next wash day since I pretty much do nothing to my hair with those styles.

Stop worrying, everything is fine.
