Curly Buttercreme is a formulation by the Curve Salon. It seems to be a whipped hair grease that contains many oils including peppermint essential oil. I went to Curve last year for a consultation and was given a free sample of the buttercreme. I loved it !! I was soooo mad because my hair always seems to love the expensive stuff ! Anyway, I have been texturized for 8 months now and still haven't found the perfect combo of products to give me moisture and softness to my curls. But, when I used the curly buttercreme, my hair stayed moisturised and soft, it definitely worked on my hair...........I just haven't been able to reconcile myself to the $48 price tag. I am contemplating buying a jar with a friend and splitting the cost. If I had $50 to spend on one hair product, it would be worth it bit I don't soooooooooo.....................................I can't really call it on this one.

ay-yi-yiiiiii, she just HAD to make me want it more!!! *SIGH* I may buckle. From the pics on the curve salon site, it seems to be a staple for moisture. Good grief, another FREAKEN product!

I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to this product, too. So far, I'm liking MNT Soy Oil Creme with a few drops of peppermint oil mixed in.

I just tried it... and wow!

This stuff makes my hair feel so nice and soft! I love it! Might be a keeper...

Darn I'd LOVE to try this but I just can't afford the $48.

You know what now that I look at this site I realize that Curly Pudding is the stuff my stylist just used on my hair Friday and it did a really nice job.

Hmmm..... maybe I can buy it cheaper from my salon.

I had bought the buttercreme this summer.Since this was my first attempt at all naturelle , I did splurge.I put it away since I was trying a few other products rockin' a weave etc., but since this thread I took it out last night.What can I say other than :it works! My hair feels moist without being weight down. It is a superior product,and for $48 it better be ! So if it works for you and your hair ,it may be worth it since you don't need alot, the jar is big and you could easily spend 48 bucks looking for an alternative.

This product is good, I always hear that but it's just too expensive! I mean you are basically paying $2 per ounce. There are other alternatives that works just as good or even better, for example this site http://www.bigbadd.com/ sells a product called glass curling cream. In fact Curve used to use this product exclusively until they decided to make their own and charge 3 times the amount. The ingredients are practically the same so check it out. It's $19 for 16ounces that to me is worth it. not $50 for 28ounces.

Welll when you think about it I guess $2 an ounce isn't bad...for example the Oyin whipped pudding is $5.00 for 2 ounces when you buy the big one....for 28 ounces it would cost $70!!

What is the consistency of the curly buttercreme? Is it like a butter? Or is it like a creme??? Also, how often would you have to reapply this during the week to keep moisturized?? Oh, and what does it smell like? *cheesy grin*

I actually own Glass but so far I haven't been using it properly. Only to smooth down my edges... May be time do do some experimenting this week though. I ordered it from a site called Hair Ballers and it was only like $25 or so. Also it was a big jar.

Ummm just want to post a correction to what someone said--it is 16 oz NOT 28 oz for $48. I take it back about it being a good deal lol! $3 an ounce!!

It smells like mint. It looks like whipped yellow cream. Think: Profectiv. But it's a bit thicker and heavier.

I'm thinking about buying this again...

I've noticed that when I do a semi touch-up (just enough to loosen the curl pattern a bit) and then use a bit of that Got2Be Smooth Miracle Repair treatment (yanno, that little yellow, glass spray bottle stuff), I get a NICE curl. I'm wondering if I can actually rock this curly pudding, shingle 'do. Hmmm...

Anybody else spring for this stuff of late?

Seems like I read that jojoba jelly from Kinkycurly.com was a good substitute.... I will have to check on that... but Kinkycurly also had a sub. that people were using that is cheaper and works well.

I think the Kinky Curly stuff is supposed to be a substitute for the curly pudding, not the buttercreme.

I ordered the jojoba jelly...I don't know if anyone knows this that's thinking about ordering the curly pudding but there's also a sub for that now on kinky-curly's website...I may try that too.

I have the Curly Buttercreme, Pudding and Meringue and they all do a great job on my hair. In fact, of all the products (and there are many) that I've tried since returning to my natural hair texture, Curly Pudding and Meringue give me the best results. The Buttercreme is a great moisturizer, but can be a little heavy so a little goes a long way. It is expensive as far as hair products go, but it is effective and the 1 lb. jar will last me a long time. My favorite way to use it is on my hairline when I wear my hair slicked back, and to seal in moisture before fingerstyling with CP and CM. Of all these products, you need use only a little for great results, so the price to me is definitely worth it. Of course, being the perpetual product junkie that I am, I will look into the other comparable products mentioned in this thread.

Would the buttercreme need to be applied daily or can a person simply wet their hait the next day without reapplying this product to have a nice, moisture retaining style?
