Yep these were like the rage back in my days of high school. Haven't worn them in years now. But I remember the simplicity of them, so I just may revisit them again soon. Loved them too!

In my album I have a folder that has interlocks/crochet braids. I liked them.

It's the interlocks folder. I used synthetic hair.
For the wavy hair one I did invisible braids in front and crocheted the rest. And for the braided hair one I did a full head.

I just did a partial crochet a couple of weekends ago. I have small braids around the perimeter and then I crocheted the rest. I've got to work on my crocheting more. This was my second time doing them.

I was looking at pics of crochet braids last year, I guess i would get individual braids in the front and do the crochet braids a little further back. But I think for the summer it is a good look.

looks cute. I did this in middle school but I used the crochet hair that was like crimpy braids...lol. I still know a girl in CO who still wears those. It's like her signature style.

I've had these before and IMHO, straight did not look right it could have been how they where done but the part (no matter where it was that my hair met the other hair) was always awful and hard to cover. :ohwell:

The only way for me to make my crochet braids look even close to natural was to go curly.
I have yet to get a bad straight tree braid. HTH

Thanks Healthb4Length, I really enjoyed the curly one as well. It was hair called Binding Twist

Asummertyme, it takes about 1.5 to cornrow (11-13 rows)...maybe less time if you can get somebody to do it faster. My sister cornrowed mine but I interlocked and did the invisible braids in the front. Interlocking takes about 1-2hrs depending on how much hair you want.

Niva, they are very easy to take out..once you can get out he single knot (which shouldn't be hard) they slip out.

Arosieworld is right if you want straight then do tree braids, crochet and straight hair doesn't look quite right, imo.

I remember wearing crochet braids back in junior high. Personally I didn't like them. They are the reason I am still convinced to this day that I could never be a braid wearer. For me, they made my head feel heavy and I hated not being able to comb my hair or scratch my scalp like I wanted to. I kept them in about 8-10 days maximum, and I only kept them in that long because picture day was coming up and I wanted my school photo with them in.

So for me, it's not that they weren't cute, I just don't like such a long-lasting style. After a few days I am tired of most any style.

i was a crochet braid queen back in high school!!!!

they were great but heavy and can be a bit bulky!!! i didnt know they were still around! i will say this, i think these braids are for little girls (under the age of 16)

an age appropriate hairstyle for the grown and sexy would be regular braids IMO

ETA: ok i went back and watched the videos and i see she used weave/hair, not braids!!!! that looks awesome!!! *puts this on her list of to do hair styles*

where i live we call it latchhook, i grew my perm out with them. they were great for me and i was thinking about doing it again. the pack with the 2 big shirley curls in it. and so cheap! :grin:

I can't say enough about this style! I got the idea from "toysvoice" on youtube, and have had my braids in for over a month. I used Freetress Water Wave hair. It took about an hour and a half to braid my cornrows and crochet in the hair. I only have six cornrows; reason being, I have no hair at my temples (childhood hair trauma). The only way to tell is if I lift the hair up; otherwise, I have a full, braidout-type hairstyle, that some of my closest friends didnt even know were extensions!

I used this type of style when I transitioned the first time about 10 years ago. I would get it barley rolled in the front and then use the small shirley temple like coils through a second layer of barley rolls in the back. I would separate the curls out for a more natural look when it was done. It was faster than a whole head and the barley rolls in th3 front made it look more like my own hair. I got it done every two weeks for a summer.

Yep, crochet braids with bulk braiding hair can be super cute. :yep:

The only thing that sucks is that my hair is long to the point where I have to flip the ends up and sew them down to my scalp... but the braid ends are way up top super visible. :nono:

If I liked a big poofy curly style I guess it wouldn't show but that's not my preference.

That style posted was cute. When I hear crochet braids I usually think of those wack *** crimpy braids I use to rock in elementary school. :rofl:

They were so ugly.
