After an intense protein treatment, or even a light one, do you follow it up with conditioner? How often do you apply protien treatments?
Thanks in advance for the help ya'll!!! :)
P.S. Has anyone ever tried ion effective care treatment, or Smooth 'n Shine Repair Extreme?

Hi!
I use a protein treatment after EVERY shampoo because my hair is very fine in texture. Also, it is not as thick as it was last summer, so I am on a mission. I have 3 treatments but I ALWAYS follow them with Elasta Deep Penetrating Remoisturizer and I moisturize my hair every day with a mix of a leave in conditioner, a oil moisturizer and wild growth oil.

Weekly, I alternate with:
* Nexxus Epitome--this is a botanical reconstructor (aloe, collagen, herbs, vitamins) http://www.nexxus.com/conditioners/epitome/

* Aphogee 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor (this is protein)
www.aphogee.com

EVERY 6 weeks or so, I use
* Dudley's DRC-28

Bajan, question.....I have the epitome also but I have never used it ( I may tonight). Do you just follow the instructions on the bottle. How long do you leave the conditioner on for.

I have a question... do you have to or is it really necessary to use a moisturizing conditioner after an intense treatment (like Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum)???

 Well, I have just begun to take my haircare seriously so I am still in my trial and error stage, but I have never used a clarifiying shampoo before so I used Nutragena anti-residue formula shampoo so that I can start with a fresh, clean, residue free scalp.
After my shampoo, I used ion effective care treatment (left on for 15 min), followed with Humectress. I sprayed surge on the wet hair, then applied some more Humectress (I love it as a leave in) and followed on my ends with Silk Therapy. When my hair is done air-drying I plan to reapply my MTG. And from there I will be bunning it as usual.
How does it sound? Can you suggest something that I should add or omit?

i follow the instructions, I spray until my hair is saturated, but not dripping wet because then it jsut runs off to the floor. I put on a plastic cap--5 minutes, you can also go under the dryer for 5 min. I rinse then do my dpr-11. ps--it has a bad odor.

Hey sounds great, after a clarifying shampoo I usually use a moisturizing poo to follow, but I don't think this step is necessary though.

I ususally do protein treatments with Motions CPR or Motions Protein Reconstructor. They seem to work for me because I notice that less hair comes out when I rinse. I usually do the protein treatments once a month, but have been thinking about doing them more frequently. I usually do the protein treatment first then wash with a moisturizing shampoo (Keracare shampoo,Myhoneychild Jamaica Islands shampoo) and then use a moisturizing conditioner (Keracare Humecto,Vo5 Nourishing Oasis, Vo5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream).

I do light protein every week, and I always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner. I saw that product you're referring to in Wal-mart, but I have stopped my PJism in its tracks. :D

I used the ion effective care and liked it,but I really prefer the hask placenta. I noticed a HUGE difference from one only use.

Unfortunately, I cant use protein very often, cos my hair will tangle up BADLY -otherwise I'd do it once a week. (Too much moisture and my hair will get mushy and break off.)

I always follow with a moisturising condish..I like ISO multiplicity.

(Jherri Redding protein pac is really good too IMO)

Buffalosoldier,

What's your hair type because I have the same problem if I use too much protein and for years and I mean years my hair would tangle so bad that no stylist wanted to touch my hair b/c it was long but it had soooo many tangles.I recently moved to AZ and on my 1st visit my new stylist said I had too much elasticity and needed a deep penetrating conditioner and to find out what caused my hair to become overprocessed. So I emailed Barry Fletcher and he asked me alot of questions and I answered no to them all and that's when it came to me that I was using too much protein too often and now I've changed my hair care regimen my hair is tangle free and happy and so I would like to know what's yours?

If I really had to type it I'd say 3cish..the individual strands are very fine, but I have a LOT of hair...
I had used ors mayonaise the first time with WONDERFUL results. The following week I did it again and had dreadlocks.
I used the hask with AMAZING results, did it again no problem, but the third time..HUGE knots -although not as bad as the ors thank goodness.

Probably I need to do it once every 3 or 4 weeks. I've learnt my lesson :)
