I've recently realized that I really don't need too much moisturizer on my hair after I shampoo and condition. I have been wearing my hair without it (curly) and my hair is softer than it is when I have moisturizer on it and looks so shiny. I remember Cichelle saying that she didn't put any on her hair either and her hair is beautiful and super long.

If anything, I will just add a little to my ends since its winter.

I'm happy!

Ion Reconstructer Treatment is the TRUTH! My hair looked a mess last week, but after doing a treatment with that stuff, my hair is in much better condition.

I am very pleased.

I'm just excited for my hair growth plans in 2010. I'm planning on ending my transition after almost 2 and a half years and enjoy being fully natural for the first time in a long time! All you ladies have been so helpful and inspirational and I know now that I can make these goals reality! Thanks ladies and happy hair growing!!!

I'm a day late but at least I have a forum to let this out without having to start a WHOLE NEW thread about something so many people have discussed in the past...

Dare I say it? Qhemet Amla and Olive Heavy Cream.

I washed my hair, let it air dry a tad bit, apply DC to each section (usually 6-10), rinse (too lazy to follow with Roux), air dry a bit and then applied QAOHC and bunned.

Now, I am very generous with this product. I'll hear folks say 'a little goes a long way' with this product but einh-einh not for meeeeeeeee....I take a dime size, rub it in between my hands and apply it to each section and take more to make sure every strand of hair is covered. For the first time my hair stayed moist (or at least did not dry out like it did when I left either Giovanni DL or shea butter on it) from Sunday to Thursday.

I really like this!

Giovanni is just a pure crunchy mess and shea butter is not easy to apply and hmmmm....from what I remember, it felt more oily than moist.

So. I am happy to have found a staple moisturizer. Now if I could just get over the price!

Well,

I had my sengelase twist/braids for for almost 5 months. I would redo and wash every week. My hair has grown.

Yesterday, I received my order from his and her haircom. I'm very happy it. I got 50% Italian Mink Natural Perm Straight. It's so pretty!

I plan to get a full head weave on Dec. 27.

The look I'm going for is straight with blunt bangs.

I wish folks would stop talking about Qhemet...everywhere I turn, someone's raving about Qhemet. Qhemet made my hair soft...Qhemet made my hair moist... Qhemet saved my soul from the fiery pit...Qhemet :blah:.

And I am dying to try me some of that stuff, but even when Qhemet is on sale, I still can't afford it.
Why won't ya'll just let me forget? ;_;

Cornrows are my bffS

I look forward to steam treatments but not messy henna treatments :nono:
I can't stand how henna changes my nail color.. Ive tried appying with gloves :perplexed No bueno.

I am patiently waiting for full NL :yep:.. Hopefully I will be grazing natural SL (stretched) December 2010.

Natural Hair is pretty easy to manage once you come to the relization that you get what you get.. love it. My 4Ab curls are what they are. I am looking forward to my natural journey going forward.. My BC WAS THE BEST THING I DID FOR MY HAIR IN 2009 :fistshake:

I'm itching to relax sooo bad! I'm 15 weeks post and I'm trying to go for 18 or 19..its been pretty easy with my weaves though. I'm actually loving this stretching thing...maybe next stretch I can go for 20-25 weeks...

I'm also contemplating switching to a lye relaxer...Ive been using ORS no lye and its been fine..but I know that no lye relaxers are harder on the hair than lye...any suggestions?

I hate hair stylists. I HATE hair stylists. I went to a stylist that I've known since I was younger. I got a texlax and was getting happy that I was a bit closer to my APL goal. IF I would've asked for a cut, I would've wanted 1/4 inch taken off. I got maybe an inch off. I'm full SL and a little passed that. i'm so pissed. I've cried. DH is mad and he hasn't even seen it. I don't want to show my hair or face to anyone.

I'm gonna have to join a hide your hair challenge.

man I don't know what to do...my hair is really weak and it snaps easily, however it hates protein, which is the only thing i can think of that helps with this. damned if i do, damned if i don't...

And here i come to say something about Qhemet. Sorry Chaosbutterfly, but I can't help it. I'll "mute" it just for you:lachen:

It's super duper cold outside (like 25 degrees), but I was kind of forced to wear my hair loose in a puff. I put some Qhemet AOHC and a little OHHB over it. When I got home I was expecting my hair to be dry, but it was still soft. Qhemet deserves all the raves that it gets. It is pricey Fine 4s, but so worth it. I have no problem sticking with something that works. I'm just glad its not in the Miss Jessie's price range.

I'm reading an article right now on Hairlista about breakage and moisture/protein balance. I think I will follow some of those tips to see if they make a difference. I'm tired of seeing those little ends popping off in shower. I just think my hair is weak. I'm very gentle when I comb my hair. No product I own contains protein. I was using coconut oil for that purpose, but I think I will invest in some ORS hair mayo.

Thanks for your consideration, but I read it anyway with my nosy self.
And then I broke down and went to buy some from the exchange forum. I sent a PM for the Amla and Olive Cream and the Olive Honey Balm. :nono:

I really hope I get them...I want some soft moist hair too. :look:

Aww this was nice to stumble upon

helps me make sense of why I don't just RUNNNNN sometimes from all this:lachen:

No, we love you!! Don't run!!!!

I just read thru the thread. Y'all are funny  I don't think it actually has whale sperm in it I think it has oil from sperm whales. I remember there being a long discussion about this back when roundbrushhair had a forum. I remember someone contacting the manufacturer and they said that it the oil from the sperm whale. Real sperm would be funny tho.

Soooo last night I did a botleg joico 17 minute miracle. Why am I bootlegging? well
1. My hair at this point and joico aren't friends
2. Even if we were friends, I'm currently on a personal 'make it work' challenge.

But yesterday. I was reading about taz007's rave about this and was intrigued....

I used the technique just substituted products. The pink is essentially the steps in the 17 minute miracle, the black are the products I used:

1. chelated/clarified: with ORS creamy aloe
2. closed the cuticle: with a vinegar rinse
3. DC'ed with reconstructor:Aphogee 2min for 30 min
4. DC'ed with moisture DC:Mizani moisturfuze mixed with EVOO for 1hr

Then moisturized and sealed as usual. MY.HAIR.FEELS.AWSOME. :yep:

Cool!!! very nice!

I'm also contemplating switching to a lye relaxer...Ive been using ORS no lye and its been fine..but I know that no lye relaxers are harder on the hair than lye...any suggestions?

no lye is harder on the actual hair, but lye is harder on the scalp.
I suggest you read the long ceramides thread, It is a must read if you use no lye
One sec, I'll search it for you!!!

I found one of these in the East Village today! :) They're designed so that the head stays warm, but it doesn't interfere with the bun. I'd knitted my own, but I'd stretched it out. I'm so excited!!! :wiggle:

You're gonna love both of them, I guarantee it. Just wanted to share a tip: if you mix the balm and the moisturizer together, after it's dried, you're going to die and go to heaven. This works really good with the BRBC too.

I did cornrow braidout on my twisted hair and I'm in love with it. Sadly it's so bloody cold and windy now it's going have to go back in a bun. My twists are unraveling at the ends and roots so now I know how everyone feels when they complain about that. These twists have been in my hair for about a week and I'm not tired of them yet. That's a first. However I don't know if I want to do a twistout after this or transition them to braids or 3-strand twists. I adore 3-strand twists outs...

After my HE LTR runs out I'm going to try to go cone free because all it does is leave flakes and buildup in my hair.

I'm thinking of searching for some new Ayurvedic oils and pomades to try on my hair and scalp. I say "searching" because once I start looking, I will end up buying. So, I don't look until I'm ready to buy, and I'm on a shopping hiatus as Ebay and I have had some kind of rendezvous going on lately.

I also wanna stay consistent with my hair vitamins. They are great for my hair and body, but I just hating taking/swallowing any type of pill. If I can just stay consistent, I would be able to determine if they were well worth the money and hassle of ordering (2) bottles.

Really enjoying the low maintenance of my two new wigs...one lace front, and the other is a full lace wig (front and back lace). I can't get enough of the "get up and go" that I can have with these wigs as a protective style. I braid my hair underneath and call it a day. P.S.-I don't use adhesive, I've figured out a way to keep it flush against my edges without glue or tape...though I might add tiny piece of tape to the back of the newest one just to keep it from lifting.

I still love being natural, but recently I've found myself occasionally wondering what it would be like to relax again.

I plan to flat iron my hair tomorrow to get the "straight hair look" out of my system.

I got my new maxiglide today!!!!!
I will not have time to play with it until next weekend I think :(
That will give me time to get my hair use to being straight.

So you ladies have gone on and on about Qhemet's products. It tempted me to buy the Olive and Honey Hydrating Balm, along with the Amla and Olive Heavy Creme. And to my chagrin, its out of stock.

I'm thinking about taking the plunge and lightening my hair and brows golden brown. Ironically...I'm more fearful about lightening my brows.
