My trip to Aveda may have ruined my hair...

I just shampooed my hair and it did not revert the way it usually does.

I went to Aveda last week for a corrective trim. It was bad enough that she cut extra layers into my hair and then announced it when she was done (I was pissed because I want to grow my layers out), but now there are only waves where 4a curls/kinks should be.

I liked the way she worked with my hair and the final product looked really good, but I guess the Smooth Infusion line just isn't enough for my hair.

I'm currently doing an Aphogee protein treatment. Please, send good hair vibes my way...I don't want to have to transition all over again.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating setbacks could be. Dont worry just see how your hair looks after the aphogee. And also use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards with it.

Thanks for the vibes.

I was nervous about how she'd handle my natural hair since she was white (I think), but she was gentle with it, finger combed and sectioned it off while detangling from the bottom up.

She did a blow out and then flat ironed it. I can't remember the brand of the blow dryer and flat iron. My hair had a-lot of movement and was very silky when she was done, but I have noticed it shedding very heavily over the past few days and I lost quite a bit of hair when I washed it.

thanks for sharing that info, my hair cant seem to take blow outs too, they just seem to kill my strands, at least you have waves not stick straight hair, so i think you waves will start to curl again with a few good protein treatments :yep:. your siggy hair is sooo georgeous by the way!

Did your hair have any extra shiny sections. That was a sign for me that my hair wasn't going to revert after a harsh press.

Thank you. :) My hair can't withstand blow-outs either. At home, I air dry and then flat iron using Sabino as a heat protectant. My hair always reverts this way, so I'll do my own heat styling in the future.

Did your hair have a burnt smell when you washed it? Salons can be notorious for using too high heat to acheive "swang."

Sending good hair vibes your way. :gorgeous: Most of us around here have overcome setbacks in our hair journey, myself included. You will too hun. :bighug:

Keep us posted. Hope the protein helps it to revert back.

Thanks, LL. There wasn't a burnt smell while I was washing it earlier, but I did notice that it was extra tangly and uncooperative. :ohwell:

Good news though, after I rinsed out the Aphogee I saw a-lot of my curl coming back. There were a few straight pieces at the crown, but I think the rest will recover. *breathes a sigh of relief*

That's great to hear OP! I hope it all curls back. Maybe you should name the store & city so we won't go there.

I went to the Aveda salon in Bethesda. They were very nice and the haircut was nice as well (even though she added layers without asking me first).

They're okay for haircuts, but I'd never let them heat style my hair again. She was trying to get me to come back for BKT, but I'm not taking any more risks with my hair.

Hi LoveLiLi...glad to see your hair recovered some from the mayhem. I hope it completely returns! Caz u know we love your hair!! And yeh..for me, heat styling can only be done by myself, because I have dense hair but my strands are pretty fine, and I can't risk heat abuse lol. I already have a slight setback from minor heat abuse, because it took me a min to realize the dense-fine thingy..so I'm "transitioning" slightly?
