I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice.

At a previous church I attended, I was doing a serving opportunity where I was doing secretarial work. The work was irregular that I could do on my own time. I had some work for about a month and that was it and it's been quite a while since that time.

Now, I've been contacted (via email) to do some more secretarial work. While I am happy to do the work, I am wondering if I need to let them know that I no longer attend this church? I don't want to offend b/c there is nothing wrong with the church, I just don't go there anymore.

My option is not listed.
Do the work first.
And let them know that you no longer attend this church, but you are happy to help.
(It will be on their hands, not yours).

I would let them know I am no longer a member there and to get back to me about if they are comfortable with that.
I know that personally I would not want someone doing that kind of work (may have contact with confidential info etc.) if they were not a member. But I dont know their situation...

Is this paid secreatarial work or is this volunteer?

Also, when you left that church, did you send notification that you were leaving?

It is just volunteer work.

No, I did not send notification. I didn't see any need to since I had not done any secretarial work in many months and I was not a member.

Just an update and then this thread can be closed:

I received a response and it was very gracious as I expected it to be. It was left in my court whether to continue b/c they could find someone else so that I could begin work in the church I now attend.

I will most likely allow them to find someone new to keep things simple.

I am glad to have been honest about the situation. My old self would have avoided the situation completely.

Thanks ladies!

Doesn't doing the right thing feel so good? There is so much freedom in being honest and upfront. Good for you:yep:
