I ended up buying the Rosemary & Mint conditioner. I'll probably try it tonight. I'll let you guys know how I like it. I hope it works at least as well or better than my Aussie Moist conditioner.

I've found from past experience that sometimes it's good to have "back-up" brands you can turn to when your staples re-formulate (and mess up your favorite product) or stop being sold.

I quoted myself to come back with my experiences using the conditioner.

Verdict: I didn't like it and will be returning it to Walmart for a refund.

I guess I must accept that my hair hates Suave conditioners and always has. I thought maybe this conditioner would be different since it's from the professionals line. :nono:

It made my hair feel dry and was not nearly moisturizing enough for me. I will be sticking with my Aussie Moist or V05 conditioners for cheap pre-poo's or co-washes. It's really too bad b/c I had such high hopes and loved the smell of the conditioner.

Luckily, I'm to the place now where I know my hair well enough to know immediately in my hair did or didn't react well to a product. It only took me using this conditioner one time to know it's not for me.

I think I will treat myself to a different hair product to console myself. :look: That smoothing milk by Garnier Fructis looks promising (and my hair loves the leave-in by Garnier).

I liked the almond and shea butter on my hair. It wasn't wow but it will do and its cheap. I like it way better than the humectant.

might have to try the pump bottle of this. it looks cheaper than my beloved aussie moist for a bottle the same size...let's just hope i don't end up regretting my purchase.

I tried this today. It smelled good and had a nice amount of slip. It was slightly thicker than the Humectant. Overall I would by it again, since I'm only using it for cowashing and rinsing out powders.

I haven't read through this thread, but I would highly doubt that Suave could compare to Aveda...

It's just like that body wash they claimed compared to my beloved Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works....puh-lease! It wasn't even close. It didn't smell anything like a cherry blossom (yes, I have smelled real cherry blossoms) and the lather wasn't as rich.

So these are the ingredients to the Aveda condish you ladies say they are comparing it to

Ingredients:

Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Gkycerin, Stearalkonium Chloride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, Hordeum Distichon (Barley) Extract/Extrai D'Orge A Deux Rangs, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols, Mauritia Flexuosa (Buriti) Fruit Oil, Orbignya, Speciosa Kernel Oil, Tapioca Starch, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Canola Oil/Huile De Colza, Tricaprylyl Citrate, Polyquaternium-10, Behenamidopropyltrimonium Methosulfate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Ethyl Macadamiate, Palmamidopropyl Trimonium Methosulfate, Babassuamidopropyltrimonium Methosulfate, Fragrance (Parfum), Geraniol, Limonene, Citronellol, Eugenol, Linalool, Citral, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Styrax Benzoin Gum, Silica, Sodium Gluconate.
Hmmmm...this one has that cyclopentasiloxane kinda up there too...Then again, this is one of Aveda's less revered conditioners. Many negative reviews online, and i remember when it came out many of the ladies on here said it wasn't that great.
I'll try the Suave version:yep:

Thanks for listing the ingredients.

I LOVE dry remedy - the shampoo and the conditioner. I alternate it with damage remedy.

Hands down, dry remedy and damage remedy are the best combos that I know of for relaxed hair and I was using top-quality products before I joined LHCF. There is no need to DC after using DR or conditioners....seriously. My hair feels soooo soft, completely tangle free. I plan to buy the big bottles once my current supplies run out.

As far at the complaints on here; IMO, people mostly have a problem with the price. You have to learn how to use Aveda products - a little goes a long way...

If Suave can do what Aveda does for $3, I'd be amazed. I can see if ladies want to use this product for co-washing; that makes financial sense. I'll be waiting to hear more reviews.

I have been looking everywhere. For those who live in NYC, please tell me where you found it.

I found them in Walgreens....after trying both of them last night *my* favorite is the Rosemary Mint. It says that it's an invigorating clean conditioner and my scalp did feel clean and invigorated. :yep: Both gave very nice slip. I can see me using the Rosemary Mint as a cowash. I didn't find the Almond Shea all that moisturizing but then again that's because I can't help but compare it to Elucence MB and as far as I'm concerned it doesn't compare at.all. :nono: so I definitely won't be using it as a leave in :nono: I haven't tried the version of Aveda that they are comparing it to and have no plans of doing so. :ohwell:

The bottles are 32oz and I paid $3.49 each (only purchased one of each and only the conditioner not the poo). Both conditioners are thicker than VO5 but not as thick as Aussie Moist.

That's my review. :)

For those of you in Greensboro, NC, I found both Rosemary Mint and Almond Shea at the Walgreens on High Point Rd next to TJ Maxx.

I just rinsed this out. It damn sure ain't no Aveda. :look:

But for $4 it's a great substitute. My hair is very soft and a breeze to detangle. I think I'm about 16 weeks post...I haven't been counting. But the comb just runs throught them tangles like butter. I like it.

The real test is when my hair dries. How much moisture my hair retains determines if I purchase this again.

I was at Walmart last night and I saw both the Rosemary Mint and the Almond Shea Butter in the giant pump bottles for $2.87 a pc. My hands went *yoink!*:lachen:

I used to love the Rosemary Mint conditioner form the Walgreens Bio brand, but that's is about $10.00 for the same size container.

I don't know which one to try first, but between co-washes and styling it doesn't take me as long as it used to to go through conditioner :yep:

definitely NO comparison to Aveda.

none at all!

especially in the fragrance department. aveda uses 100% plant derived fragrances. but it's still a good detangling cowash conditioner. i'd repurchase once my big bottle runs out. but i'll never give up aveda!!! nevah!!!

I am disappointed. I thought I would like it. I actually bought this before this thread started and it just didn't float my boat for me. No slip, no real moisture IMO. I've tried it a cowash, leave-in, detangler and bow bang boom.....NOTHING! I will be giving this away to my mom or bff or my brothers gf.

Well, I certainly had high hopes for this. Great slip and felt very moisturizing initially. None of those properties lingered. It simply isn't thick enough for any super deep moisturizing or conditioning.

Suave needs the taste slapped out they mouth for the Aveda comparison.

Naturals might use this as a leave in or something to detangle their hair before conditioning for real.

i saw the almond and shea butter shampoo and condish in a store today. i smelled it, and it didn't smell nothin like almonds so i put it back. it was also really runny. i didn't like that. glad i didn't waste my 3 dollas. ♥

Rosemary Mint : Smelled minty, created a slight cooling sensation upon skin contact, but didn't give me the tingles like I wanted.

Pros: Left hair soft and moisturized. Very easy to detangle after rinsing and my scalp felt clean. I liked the consistancy. The smell that lingered afterward was pleasant w/o being too strong.

Cons: It took a lot of pumps of conditioner to saturate my hair. Not tingle-y enough! Definitely not meant to be a deep conditioner.

I haven't tried the almond/shea yet. :look:

My bottle wasn't runny, it was pretty thick.

I tried this conditioner and I was surprised. I HATE Suaves ole cheap behind conditioners usually, but this was actually pretty good. I bought the almond/shea and it was thick, covered my hair with a few pumps, and was an overall good cowash conditioner. I am going to keep using this for a while and see how it does.

I think it is a good conditioner for the price. It worked better than alot of the other Suave conditioners!!! I also like the smell.

My Review:

BIG FAT MISS!!

How bad was it? I couldn't even perform a decent rollerset. Couldn't detangle my hair so I am sittin' under the dryer with a halfhazard rollerset. I've NEVER done that. I always rollerset to a T.

I just took random sections of hair and put a roller on it b/c I couldnt even detangle it well enough to do a proper, mohawk style set. Even after applying my leave-in..:nono: The bad effects of the sorry conditioner took over.

Hair felt like straw. No slip, no moisture, nada. Will be returning this to my local Rite Aid.

Well I checked Walmart today and they were all sold out of the Almond and Shea Conditioner and only 2 bottles of the Rosemary Mint was left I didnt care too much for the scent so I didnt get it. The funny thing is most of (90%) of the Suave conditioners (the other formulas) were stacked while the other new formulas were clean off the shelves. I know some of ya'll were stocking up on the Almond and Shea, it's just too much of a coincidence. I will try the Almond and Shea eventually and use it as a co-wash condish, if it's not all that I will spruce it up with some oils or something.

Well, my hair absolutely :notworthy adores Suave Humectant. Between that and Kenra MC that's pretty much all the conditioner I use anymore. (Well, I use Aussie 3-minute as a leave-in )

Anyway I will most certainly be grabbing some of the Shea butter one this weekend :yep: even if it's not the world's greatest condish, it'll still be useful for rinsing the 90 lbs of henna/indigo grains out of my head.

ETA: I refuse to buy anything at Wal-Mart for any reason, so hopefully my local Target or Walgreens has it.
