How will you celebrate/reward yourself when you reach your goal? New outfit including shoes, accessories, and hair jewelry

This pic is from September but it is my most current pic. I think my hair has grown a little since then. I will not be taking down my braids until February so there's that.

I'm currently doing Lou's Hydration Challenge in the Wash and Go thread. I will track my status here as well. Will be nice to be able to look back and compare my wng over the year.

It's a 7 day hydration process and I'm currently on day 3.

I'm not sure where my hair is exactly. I think my hair is halfway between SL and APL.

What is your goal for 2022 (SL or APL)?
I think reaching APL is obtainable for me in 2022.

I hope to thicken up and grow out my hairline.

I hope the hair in the front of my head will reach my shoulders in a stretched state. Right now only my hair in the back reaches my shoulders but the hair in the front is chin length. I don't like how that looks. So I'm hoping that when all my hair reaches my shoulders it will look more full overall.

What's your plan/regime to reach your goal?
I keep my routine super simple because I don't have the energy for a ton of steps. Also I am my own worst enemy when it comes to retaining any length so in order to grow my hair out I need to keep my hands out of it.

Protective style
- Keep my hair in protective styles - twists or box braids
- Wash hair once a week (or more often if needed in protective style)
- Moisturize with water and a moisturizing cream
- Make regular appointment to get hair rebraided

In-between time
- Keep hair in braids or chunky twists
- Detangle and wash hair once a week (or more often if needed)
- Moisturize with water and a moisturizing cream
- Maybe seal hair with an oil or butter
- Retwist or rebraid

How will you celebrate/reward yourself when you reach your goal?
I'm not really sure.

Welcome to the challenge. The hair you are pulling in your starting pic is already APL. Not sure about the rest of your hair.

You are welcome to stay but you may want to join the BSL challenge if they have one.

Thank you. I can't really tell where APL is on me but I'll claim it. Doesn't look like there is a BSL specific challenge this year and I want to grow more of my hair to this length because I think I will need to do a trim soon.

I am in it to win it!:cup:

I have a crazy idea that I can get to APL by April-June of this year. I measured my new growth and have one inch after a month. I'm shocked! I don't know if I measured right though since my hair is in cornrows. If that's the case that means I am growing at 1 inch per month. So If in the next 3 months I can grow and retain 3 inches I might get to APL sooner than I thought!

It all sounds like a pipe dream though. My hair usually grows at .5 inch a month but I have been consistently taking Viviscal supplements for almost a year now. I think they make my hair grow faster but I could never retain length. So with my cornrows and wig regimen I am going to see if I can retain all of my length.

We are a small crew in here but all the right people are here. Are you ladies ready to do this thing in 2022?
Small, but mighty!

I'm ready to hit APL and beyond. Thank you for starting this challenge. Yes, back in the day our challenges were large and jumpin', but good to see we're still here!

I actually put reminders on my calendar for our check ins and I've created my 2022 albums in Fotki. I'm so old school!

I'll join! Praying for no setbacks and hope I make it!

What length are you now?
  • Neck length, approaching shoulder length?

What is your goal for 2022 (SL or APL)?
  • Blunt cut/Less layers, Full SL (front & back)
    or
  • Same layers, front shoulder length & the back to be APL

What's your plan/regime to reach your goal?
  • Relaxing every 5-7 months (aim for 6)
  • Continue protective styling, protein treatments, taking care of my scalp.
  • Also, regular trims, while trying not to be too scissor happy, so I can see growth.

How will you celebrate/reward yourself when you reach your goal?

  • Wear my hair out more; finally enjoy it

Starting Pic:

Didn't take pics when I straightened & trimmed last week, so I'll have to use my old pic from Sept 2021 (ignore the dirty mirror)

I'm tempted to take down one braid and see my length but I am going to leave my hair alone because I don't want to deal with the hassle of rebraiding it LOL I'm so excited to do a rollerset in April I bought all my supplies today so I can be ready. A bit pre emptive but I'm really and excited to see my length when its straight and all down. Hopefully I'll be closer to APL by then! I hope that getting the supplies so early wont make me want to straighten early though!

Keep to your plan. It will give you time to love and pamper your hair between now and then. Not sure where you are but the weather will also be nicer and allow your rollerset to last longer. And you will have that many more inches to drool over. It will be worth the wait.

I have a picture from December when I got my hair straightened for the first time in over 2 years.

What length are you now?
Currently I am SL (Dec 2021)

What is your goal for 2022 (SL or APL)?
APL by Dec 2022

Plus my hair is very fine and thin so thicker would be nice

What's your plan/regime to reach your goal?
Keep my hair in some sort of twists (flat twists, individual twists etc) or buns | I have been getting my hair braided for over a year and I have breakage so maybe my hair is to delicate for braids lol.
MOISTURIZE 2X a week.
Shampoo and DC every 2/3 weeks
Might get a weave over the summer for 3/4 months then back to twists.

How will you celebrate/reward yourself when you reach your goal?
Not sure but I will probably straighten again at the end of the year to see the length again and hopefully I am at APL then.

Looking forward to warmer weather! Still undecided if I will protective style all year. I need to use up my gels!
I've decided to protective style most of the time, but I'll enjoy my hair often. That way I won't get bored and I get to see my hair out sometimes.

I do have a drawer full of every kind and color of headband so I dress up my buns a bit. Especially doing so many zoom meetings at work. I match my headband to my outfits all while my hair is pulled back in a moisturized bun.

I tried doing a modified version of the LOC method to moisturize.(Liquid, Cream, Oil/Butter) I will see how it turns out tomorrow. I'm trying to see how I can moisturize less often and have some more longevity of my cornrows.
