4a/b Curly Pudding Review

Wassup ladies,

I copied this from my Beauty Blog incase some of you don't read it regularly ;).

Okay, so here is the review. I bought Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding in December, along with the Curly Meringue. I used it for the first time 3 days ago. This is for natural heads, and it says it turns "kinks to curls". This was so exciting to me, b/c when I wash my hair, I have almost no curl definition, except for some random ringlets! Anyway, I put the product in my hair and waited for the curls. No curls. I'm thinking, WTF?!?! My hair just shriveled up again. I clearly didn't read the directions well on the tub, b/c it really depends on your HAIR TEXTURE. If you have natural curls (3a/3b/4a), those curls will spring up and look hot. If you are a 4b, all you are gonna get is shrinkage. So, I looked over the site for another 20 minutes, and then I put some two-strand twists in, so that I might have a successful twist out. This worked out MUCH better. My curls were springy and soft, but I believe I can get the same results using other products :ohwell: . It was my first attempt at a twist out, so lots of them were frizzy, but with practice, I am sure I will get it right! I have that curly, messy, sunglasses-and-big-hoop-earring trendy natural girl look!! Then I oiled my scalp with my Boundless Tresses Hair Growth Serum and kept it movin!!

Pics in my fotki!!!

Aww that sucks Lil Chocolate Ma. That's why I'm afraid to order it. That's too much money wasted if I doesn't work on my hair. :( Have you tried the blue fantasia gel on your hair? It works good for me and it's only 3.99.

That stuff never worked for me either. Try the Smooth n' Shine Curl Activator gel too. IT works better for me w/out any annoying smells

Sorry about your experience Choc. I simpy love the meringue but from my knowledge this product only holds whatever curls, ringlets etc you have when your hair is wet. If you don't get curls ringlets etc when wet this product isn't going to work.

The curly pudding is a good moisturizer. The product goes a long way. The meringue is just running out after almost 4 months. Its so light and fluffy in my hair:lol:

It hasn't worked for me either and I am a 3a/3b. It left my hair a goopy mess. I also had the buttercreme, which I ended up selling because it didn't work either. I get my best results with ORS loc n'twist or Labella hair gel.

I got a free sample of the Curly Pudding on Motown Girl's website and while I like the results of it. My Paul Mitchell Foaming Pomade and Sculpting Foam (2 products) works just the same if not better for half the price.
End of day hair- Curly Pudding (all I did this day was go to school)

End of day hair - Paul Mitchell (I spent the day with my "friend" and it was hot outside... my hair was blowing all over the place in the car plus it was like 75 degrees)

I like curly pudding, but only for rod sets. It doesn't magically make my hair curly, but its a really nice setting lotion.

I guess I am hijacking, I've been thinking, why aren't we working together on products specifically for 4a/4b hair? This board knows more than anyone I've ever met.

I have 3c and 4a hair, and the pudding defined some of my curls, but I didn't think it wasa great moisturizer. By the time I get out of the dryer my hair is feeling alittle crunchy. I do like the buttercreme as much as I don't want to b/c it's expense, but it does work on my twistouts, and it seals the moisture for a while.

if you dont have some type of curl pattern to being with this product wont make it any beter. it defines what you already have. I have never tried the product as it is too pricey but I notice the trend with everyone else using it.

Their whole marketing scheme of "turning kinks to curls" is misleading and a lot of people have wasted their money thinking it can do something it clearly cant

I agree. Something about that statement always rubbed me the wrong way. Like we shouldn't want kinks. Kinks are bad. I guess kinks is more PC than saying naps? :ohwell: I like my naps!

ITA. There's nothing wrong with kinks that they need to be anything other than kinks--at least, that's what my kinks tell me. :D

I'm glad... A little goes a long way. I bought the biggest bottle of Foaming Pomade and Sculpting Foam in August and I'm just starting to run out of the Foaming Pomade. Make sure you don't use too much of the Sculpting Foam or it'll make your hair hard and crunchy.
