Aphogee Treatment for Damaged Hair.

Let me start off by saying that I blame each and every one of you on this board for my PJness! LOL

Saturday I tried Aphogee treatment for damaged hair. It's not damaged but I'm currently trying to find the right moisture/protein balance for my hair.

So Saturday I hot oil and let it marinate for 20 min. I followed the directions and started the application. As a side bar I haven't had any type of sickness since being pregnant but when I opened that bottle to apply it....lawd Jesus, Mary and Joseph I almost threw up! LOL It almost knocked me outta my fuzzy slippers! Even my dog was like "damn" what's that and left the bathroom. It took every ounce of strength to finish so I could wash my hands! So, I sat under the dryer nervous because this stuff is no joke. My hair got hard and crispy like. To the shower I went and rinsed with a sigh of relief. I picked up some Moisturefuse. I know that there are alotta Moisturefuse ladies on the board but this stuff did nothing for my hair <running for cover>. What I mean is that it did not detangle like I expected it to and I think it's because of the new growth. My hair behaves differently to products when there is angry growth present. So I reached for the Elucence and things got back to normal.

The result after rollersetting, etc was that my hair was stronger. Hardly any hair in the comb. I was surprised but I don't think I'll use this one again. Perhaps the 3 minute one. Sheesh! I can still smell it in my nostrils!

And as for the Moisturfuse... don't worry. Although I liked it when I had it, it didn't WOW me either. It's just okay with my hair, so you see, what works for one may not for the other... that's way I'm a receipt keeping fool.

I felt exactly the same way you did regarding the Aphogee. It stinks to high heaven and it left my hair a dry brittle mess. I followed it up with elucence but my hair still felt like the Sahara desert. Maybe it worked out for you b/c you gave your hair a doulble dose of moisture (elucence & moisturfuse).

Don't strike off moisturefuse just yet. Use it again with out the aphogee. I almost got rid of my elucence based on my results using it after the aphogee protein treatment. But I bave it a second try and it worked great. Aphogee is a very intensive treatment that is very drying.

Hi Honi,
I've purchased the treatment for the same reason as you...trying to find that balance. I haven't found the courage to give it a try yet....just the thought of "crispy" hair makes me cringe /images/graemlins/crazy.gif ! I'm happy that your treatment gave successful results.
God Bless,

Hi Honi,

You're right about the Aphogee. The smell is less then pleasant. If you need some good protein treatments that smell nice, there are some out there. I recommend Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstructor, smells very nice and is very good, and also Keraphix by Nexxus. The directions on the keraphix say use for 3 minutes, but my cousin, who is a hairdresser, recommends you use it with heat for 15 minutes if you need to stop serious breakage. It's also very good and smells nice. Hope that helped. They are both around $21.00 each. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

And no Diva you aren't the only one. I've never smelled Aphogee but WGO doesn't bother me at all. Hell I'm even starting to get used to the Glovers! /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

this treatment really works but it is too liquidy and it drips onto my face and neck and it feels real sticky on my skin and i can sometimes taste it salty on my tongue when it drips that far /images/graemlins/mad.gif!! ugh! i wish they would make it thicker. i bought the massive bottle so i gotta wait to try and thicker protein treatment. /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Dido for the WGO. I only use it on my hair wet so once its dry I don't smell it.
