Braiding help- extension technique used at African braiding shops?

I really need some help on this. I've been practicing on my son's hair for hours. Mine is already in braids but I want to do mine when they come out.

wow, now I don't feel so bad about my braids slipping so badly after a few washes. i was doing it by the technique in most video tutorials. i really wish I could see this other technique so next time I can do a better job.

Well, im still working on it ladies. It hard to learn this technique. Im about ready to go to one of my local African braiding shops and asking them for a lesson, seriously.
