I've decided to start doing the Curly Girl method exlusively now that I'm transitioning. Does anyone else do the Curly Girl method exclusively, and is it benefitting your hair?
I did for about a year. It was really great for my hair. I am now "curly girl--modified". That is, I use shampoo when I think I need it. For a while, I wouldn't touch shampoo and even now, I really only use it for clarifying purposes. That's usually in the winter when I am more inclined to use butters on my hair. I follow most of what the book says. Though, I usually don't use gel in my hair because I wear it up every day. Also I find the more product I use, the more I start wanting to shampoo. So I keep it simple.
I have not tried products like low poo or no poo. I recently tried Devacare One Condition. It has amodimethicone in it, so I have mixed feelings about it. If it were superior to my favorite noncone conditioners, I would use it and just clarify every week or so. But it really didn't rise to the top as far as conditioners were concerned...on my hair, anyway. I cannot use B'leave In.
I think when I'm fully natural I may try it, but right now, I like my shampoos, so I still use them in my CWC routine. I just started using gel, but I don't think it's making much difference right now.
