Financial Problems while tithing/offering

I just started back tithing after a month. I figured it was the right thing to do. Since then I have had all types of financial problems 1.) Last paycheck back on the 31st of Aug I bought a product on -line for my business and paypal took it out of the wrong checking account which caused two of my bills to bounce costing me 61.00 in fees. This will not be corrected because they claim that I did not put the right account info down when I know I did I have no proof so the charges by my bank or paypal will not be reversed.

Then this past check on friday. I did not tithe the full amount but gave a good amount of offering. And on Saturday. When I went into work they said they paid me to much for my vacation time and are deducting my Oct paycheck. 70 bucks. I tried to fight this but they have some weird method worked out that is to complicated to figure out. Then This Morning I went to check my banking account and my automobile insurance company deducted my payments twice. They are putting back the money because of problems they had over the weekend. These amounts might seem small to others but they are big to me. Oh and as for that paypal order which i ordered still has not come, They said that they did not get my order, but will have it at the end of this month. Thank god I keep the tracking number.

I am not blaming God in anyway nor tithing, but I also thought that God would look out for my finances more if I did tithe. I mean this is the type of stuff that happens when you dont tithe. There have been times when I did not tithe and something would happen to me finacial and the amount would be the same amount I should have tithed. I will keep tithing however because we really are required to do so. I had researched this trying to get out of it, some say you it not required and some say you should.but I always feel so guilty and God did bless me with a raise. The type of blessing that God provides for me when I tithe is find good sales which I am happy about. Sorry so long.

Hang in there!!! A couple of years ago I had a problem financially (Payday loans) and ended up giving God tithing IOUs. I felt horrible..I was attending church and listening to the Word...I felt like a moocher. Plus, out of all the things I could go to hell for...not tithing shouldn't be one of them. Everynow and then I am late, but I make it up with the next check. Compared to having nonsufficient funds fees taken from my checking accout...putting extra$$ in the plate is easy now. Just be obedient...God knows your heart. If you are for some reason not able to contribute, tell HIM about it. At least you care enought to be concerned. Many, many saints nowdays don't even believe in tithing.

My sister don't get discourge and as stated before don't give up.

I have noticed that when we start doing right the enemy ( I don't feel like typing he's name) will place things in front of us to make us doubt God's word. It is only a test, believe that. Remember when you first got saved or started walking saved and it seemed like everything was going wrong and you thought man I'm serving God now everything should be going right but instead everything and everyone is acting a fool. You know what I'm talking about. Well the same thing is happening right now. Keep doing what you are doing and believe me God will work it out in HIS time.

Thanks 1god1 there was a time were I too was giving God IOUs. I never paid the full amount . Don't even get me started on the payroll advance places!!! Girl I had 5 of them going for three years borrowing from one to pay the other and bills. I never defaulted but a lot of my money was going to pay those fees. I had to do some serious praying and fasting to get out of that addiction. It was an addiction. Sometime I would not even need the money just liked the thought of getting it hasel free. I would be in there 3 in the morning borrowing money. One by one I was able to let them go. I had just one going for a little over a year and occasionally I still go. but borrow no more then 100.00. Now girl they are letting people borrow up to 800.00. Each time I tell my self this is the last and pray to God for strength. I allways tell people to stay away from them.

Don't give up or be down due to life crazy mishaps that throw you for a loop. If you hadn't tithe or gave to the general offering those things would have still happened. You have to give from your heart w/o expectation or you will forever feel like "I could kept my money and been better off". I reality God is preparing you for mass wealth in all areas in your life not just monetary. Stay strong in prayer. God is going to work with you on solving the financial issues along with may other issues.

I would say...continue to tithe. I know it sounds crazy but I had recently lost my job and that's actually when something moved me to start tithing.:ohwell: What was worse...I wasn't really feeling the church like that. But I somehow seemed to manage. It seemed like God was looking out for me financially. I can't describe it...but I do remember when my mom wasn't working but she said that she would continue to pay tithes. Even if she had to pay it all at once or in a big lump sum from her tax return. But whatever you do....do it with a sincere heart or else it won't matter anyway. Keep ya head up!

I agree with kweenameena. If you can you should continue. That's what I've been doing. At first it was like if I'm late on my bills how can I possibly push out more to tithes. I had an excel spreadsheet of calculated tithing IOUs! lol I was so serious about paying God back. BUT MY GOD has made it possible. Just be obedient and He will move everything else around so that your needs are met. Did I mention that I pay out approx. $1,500 in private student loans a month! I'm only able to do it because of the God I serve. You'll do it and think nothing about it and will look back and be like, "what was I worried about." :look:

Be Blessed!

You are doing the right thing by tithing and by searching the scriptures for the truth. The Bible clearly tells us what to do. You also seem very wise as you have seen what happens when you do or don't tithe and how God has blessed you life. Tithing blessing the rest of the money that remains. I encourage you to continue to tithe even if you have swop bills always put God first and watch your extra spending. God may be testing your faithfulness in the area of tithing since He always has blessing on his mind for those who trust him. We as Christians cannot afford not to tithe but we all must asked God to help us to be better stewards over our money so the enemy will not deceive us.

I had forgot all about this thread lol.

I am ashamed to report that I have not been tithing now for months. I had really want to start this year off doing it. Now I know I am in the wrong, but I will not be able to start tithing until March. I know its selfish and I should have more faith in God to supply my needs, but right now I just can't. If I tithed I wouold be left with like 20 buck until next pay period. And I only get paid on the 15th and 30 th of each month. NOw I will give a small offering where I can.

First off, do not be ashamed. You are still God's child and He loves you. Hold your head up!

I just listened to a sermon yesterday called "Is Anything Too Hard for God?" and the pastor said something awesome - You may have been knowing Jesus for years, but there are some aspects in your life where you are a NEW believer.

When it comes to tithing, you are a new believer and this is an area where God will be working with you and guiding you as you increase your faith.

When my parents first began tithing some years ago (they started with net, they recently took a leap a faith and started tithing on gross), they were drowning in credit card debt. Plus the numbers showed that if they started tithing they would would not have enough money to pay the bills. In short - they would be in the negative. But they decided to believe that God would make a way out of no way and make up for the difference. And he did every single month! We never went without!

I just said a prayer that God will help you in this area. I have a suggestion for you - Start reading scriptures on faith and giving. Start confessing them out of your mouth. Remember that when God created the world, he SPOKE it into existence...He didn't just hope that it would happen.

It's one thing to feel that God will make a way. It's more meaningful to KNOW that God will make a way. For instance, I may feel like God is not with me when I'm struggling, but I KNOW that He is with me always and confess scriptures to re-enforce what I already know.

Here are some scriptures to get you started:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." (Hebrews 11:1,3)

"Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:5)

"They that seek the Lord shall not want (meaning lack) any good thing." (Psalm 34:10)

And God said, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith...if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3:10) *The blessings that God will provide you may be financial or non-financial. Also, the blessings may be given to you while you are here on Earth or when you live with him in Heaven.*

"My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)

And here is a scripture regarding God's Word.

And God said, "So shall my WORD that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)

God bless you!!!!!!

Well I can relate I'm in the same situation, actually I'm working two jobs, to maintain my bills, and I'm still not making ends meet, I have roughly a 1200, short fall after working seven days a week average of 18 hours a day.

And as I sat in church sunday, watching the faithful ones pay their tithes, God was dealing with me on my non-existing tithing......

And I came to the realization that I was breaking my neck working two jobs to pay man, and neglecting to pay my tithes to the Lord of all. Regardless to what man, can do to me, God can do the impossible!

So I made a commintment to myself right then, that I would start paying my tithes faithfully, because God is who I serve, not man!!

Testimonies? .... Indeed !!!

God brought me from 'nothing' to abundance. And Yes I tithed and I gave when I 'could not' or so it seemed. I cannot begin to count the miracles and blessings in my life. And not of works of which me NOR any man can boast, but of faith; faith in just believing what God said He would do.

And what He has done has exceeded far and above anything that I could ever have hoped or dreamed, in my relationship with Him, my spiritual growth, and the needs of my life. God has overflowed with His blessings.

And it 's not about 'paying' Him to bless me. It's about trusting Him as I support His work; giving of myself a portion that I could have chosen to keep or spend elsewhere, but I chose to 'trust' and just give my tithes and offerings; even during my darkest of times...I just gave it. I didn't give up. I just gave it. No guilt, no pressure, no condemnation nor fear; I just wanted to be a 'Giver' into the Kingdom of God. It takes money to do so, not grain or wheat. The more I gave, the more God opened doors for me and blessed my family and enabled me to be more of a blessing to others in so many, many ways. :Rose:

WOW EbonyEyes - I didn't create this thread but it seems tailor made for me. I'm on this mission to become debt free and I was contemplating using my tithe to get there faster in other words "robbing GOD". Thanks for the reminder to rehearse the promises of GOD and to release them into the atmosphere. I'll trust You (Lord)!:yep:

I tithe because I want to.... I trust the stewards of the money that flows through my church; I trust God, and He's never failed me;

Amen for this testimony, esp the bolded, which is what tithing is all about -- TRUST :yep:

My mother along with God and my mindset has really helped me out with my finances. I strive to be a cheerful giver no matter what. I used to fret over my money because I thought that even though I was paying my tithes that my money would still be short later on. Well my mother had told me over and over again just have faith and pay God first and yourself first (by saving money) and you will prosper! Well with me it was a mind thing Satan attacked my mind and I finally put in my mind no matter what is left in the basket I will be able to go back in it for whatever I need my money for. Just like the lady who fed the prophet, that was my scripture for confidence.

There are some thought provoking threads here in the CF forum that may help you understand more about tithing. I know, I KNOW this is going to sound cliche-ish but you really will not get any answers concerning tithing w/o a healthy dose of blind trust and faith.:look: It took me years to understand tithing was a huge indicator of where a person's heart is. We can only prove God (test him) by actually cheerfully forking out the 10%. Yes-10%. Over and over again, I have seen God move financially for me. It's just as Shimmie said but this is one of those things you will have to walk alone and prove for yourself. If you are not giving cheerfully your 10%, then it is best to not give at all. Our 10% will not make or break God. He asks us to give with open palms only so that he can fill them up again. We can post thread after thread. In the end, those who want to will. Those who don't won't. Tithing is not a salvation issue. You just forfeit certain promises in your life.
Tithe Definition
The Hebrew word, ma’aser, is translated both as “tenth part,” and “tithe.” In like manner the Greek word, dekate, is translated “tenth,” and “tithe.”
Here is a thread that gives some good food for thought from both those that say yea and those that say nay. At any rate, you must choose.
