I found these recipes to make your own hair products at home, I will try some this weekend. I tried the HOT IOL treatment and it did wonders to my hair:

/images/graemlins/shocked.gifTo promote growth of hair
Equal quantities of olive oil and spirit of rosemary. A few drops of oil of nutmeg. Mix together, nub the roots of the hair every night with a little of this liniment, and the growth of it will very sensibly increase.

1/4 lb. lard
2 pennyworth of castor oil
Any essential oil for scent.

Let the lard be unsalted; beat it up well then add the castor oil. Mix thoroughly together with a knife, adding a few drops of any scent that may be preferred. Put the pomatum into pots, which keep well covered to prevent it from turning rancid.
From Beeton's Book Of Household Management 1861

/images/graemlins/grin.gifShine Enhancers
Mix the inside of a pumpkin with 1 egg & yogurt. The pumpkin will clarify hair, while the egg adds shine. Leave on for 15-20 min. Then wash out with cool water.
Rinse your hair with very cool water after conditioning. This adds loads of shine!

/images/graemlins/shocked.gifRemove Build-up
Pour a few capfuls of apple cider vinegar into a cup of water. Pour over hair & rinse out. This will rid your hair of any excess buildup from styling products & neutralize the alkalinity.

/images/graemlins/grin.gifHOT OIL TREATMENT: Hot oil treatments are very popular since they are easy to use and give good results if you have very dry hair or hair that has been damaged by over processing. Hot oil treatments help to restore shine and condition to your hair. You can buy these deep-conditioning products commercially for around $1.00 per use. If you use two a week this can really add up, but you could make your own treatments at home and save money. Homemade hair conditioners are easy to make and are very inexpensive.

You only need two ingredients: oil and conditioner. You can use olive oil or just plain vegetable oil, which is even cheaper. Put about 1/4 cup of oil in a small saucepan and add a tablespoon of hair conditioner. (You can use any kind of creme rinse, this is good for using up conditioner that you didn't particularly like since you will be shampooing it out anyway). Do not use leave-in conditioners.

/images/graemlins/grin.gifProtein Conditioner
Beat 1 egg white until foamy. Add to 5 TBS's plain natural yogurt. Apply to hair in small sections at a time. Leave in for 15 minutes. Rinse.

/images/graemlins/shocked.gifSplit End Treatments
1) Mix 1-tsp. honey with 2 TBS's olive oil then beat in 1 egg yolk. Massage on hair in small sections. Wrap head with shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.
2) Massage hair and scalp with warm avocado or olive oil. Wrap hair securely in a towel. Leave oil on hair about 8 hours or overnight. If left on overnight, put a shower cap over head to avoid staining pillows and bedding. Wash hair, then rinse with a vinegar /water solution.

/images/graemlins/grin.gifSesame - Coconut hair conditioner
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons light sesame oil
2 whole eggs
2 tablespoons coconut milk
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon coconut oil
In a blender, mix all ingredients together on low for 30 seconds. Shampoo and rinse with your shampoo of choice. Apply conditioning mixture to the hair and massage in with your fingers. Leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Can be used daily, leave on longer for more intensive conditioning

/images/graemlins/wink.gifFruit Conditioner
1 avocado (peeled and mashed)
1 cup coconut milk
Combine mashed avacodo with some coconut milk. Mash together until its smooth and about as thick as shampoo. Comb it through the hair and let sit for 10 -15 minutes, wash out.

/images/graemlins/laugh.gifYogurt Conditioner for Dry and Flyaway Hair
4 tlbs. unflavored yogurt
1 egg
Whisk together 4 tablespoons of natural, unflavoured yogurt and 1 egg. Apply after shampoo and massage thoroughly into the hair, leaving on at least 5 minutes. Rinse out thoroughly with plenty of lukewarm water

/images/graemlins/smile.gifHerbal Shampoo for Dry Hair
1 tbsp. dry comfrey root
1 tbsp. dry rosemary
1 tbsp. dry chamomile
1 cup water
2/3 cup baby shampoo
1 egg (beaten)
1/3 cup milk
Combine herbs and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to steep for 20 minutes. Strain out the herbs and mix herbal water with the baby shampoo, egg and milk. Pour into a empty, used shampoo bottle.

/images/graemlins/shocked.gifHomemade Hair Gel
1/2 to 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
1 cup warm water
Dissolve gelatin in 1 cup warm water. Keep refrigerated and use as you would a purchased gel.

/images/graemlins/shocked.gifHomemade Hair Mousse
1/4 teaspoon plain gelatin
1 cup boling water
Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon plain gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Let sit at room temperature until slightly set. Rub into dry or wet hair, and blow dry.

/images/graemlins/smile.gifHerbal Essences Hair Rinse
1/2 cup dried Rosemary
1/2 cup dried Red Clover
1/2 cup dried Nettle
1/2 cup dried Sage (for dark hair)
1/2 cup dried Chamomile (for light hair)
1/2 cup dried Witch Hazel (for oily hair)
1/2 cup dried Marigold (for dry hair)
Mix together herbs and store in a covered, light-proof container. Before you shampoo, take 1/4 to 1/2 cups herbs and add to 2 cups water in an enamel pot. Cover pot, bring to slow boil, simmer a few minutes, remove from heat and proceed to shampoo your hair. After last rinse, strain herbs from pot, add enough cold water to herbal brew to rub into scalp and proceed to rinse hair. Catch drippings in pot and keep pouring them through your hair until all are used. You may now either rinse your hair with clear water or omit water rinse. Makes 2 cups rinse, enough for 4 to 8 after-shampoo rinses

/images/graemlins/grin.gifRosemary Hair Rinse
1 oz Rosemary leaves
1 pint Water
4 teaspoons Borax
Infuse Rosemary in boiling water in a covered, enamel pot until liquid has cooled. Strain and add borax. Use cold as a hair rinse

/images/graemlins/grin.gifBeer Rinse
1 oz water
2 teaspoons Cider Vinegar
7 drops Lemon essential oil
1 ounce Beer
5 drops Rosemary essential oil
5 drops Calendula essential oil (optional for blondes)
Mix all ingredients together. Use as a final rinse, rinse well. Stale beer is fine to use. Adds protein to make hair shiny and make it feel thicker

HOPE YOU ENJOY THESE!!!!! /images/graemlins/dance7.gif

FYI This gel works great and hold your hair for days BUT it smells like hot urine when you first add the water!!!!
