Informative links for those of us losing hair...

I'm your huckleberry.
I thought that it would be helpful to share some links to information on hair loss and some recent studies that may hold promise for some of us here. In a hair community of this size, there are bound to be women that fall into the silent camp--thinning, possibly balding, alopecia, etc. We gather here, but all of our journeys are not the same, neither is the end goal. Many here want long, healthy hair, whether processed or natural but unfortunately a few of us may be genetically-disposed to future hair loss. Some of us may be pulling our hair out through traction alopecia and need help. Some of our diets are causing hair loss. The question is, if some of the things here help grow hair in women with obvious hair loss issues, then what are the implications for others who are trying to grow hair? Here you go, happy reading!

A REALLY good article on Androgenetic Alopecia and how DHT is the culprit (and since miconazole and clotrimazole blocks DHT...oops that's another thread!):

Visit this page and read a grip of scientific studies on hair loss. Can you believe that Broccoli, Green Tea, and Alpha-lipoic Acid are all DHT blockers?:

I have alopecia in a spot on my head, and my fam on my moms side has thinning hair. They also take medicines so I am not sure if it's that also. I have been using stimulant oils for a few months and have seen improvement :D . These links were very helpful.

I developed Alopecia Areata(mild) about 11 or more years ago. I developed puss bumps first and then the bald spots followed. I received injections and my hair grew back within weeks. I still get small bald spots but their not as bad as before. Now, I just don't worry about them. I worried back then because I would go to the salon and get my hair fixed and didn't want beauticians talking about me. ex: "Gurl did you see her hair, she look like a ball headed chicken."

Dermatologist said it was too much stress on my scalp....

So many women of color suffer from or will suffer from this problem. SpiceTee you delivered a blessing to so many people. It helps when you have a village helping to solve some of your problems vs. going on the journey alone. Thank You. :)

Hey Spiced Tea,
Thanks for the links the postings were very helpful. I guess I'm not quite ready to ive up after all! I know in the next five years balding will be a thing of the past. I will try to keep up with the frontier of hair hair supplements and growth remedies, but it is all so expensive and tiersome. I know I have learned so much from this board and have healthier hair because of it, but I still face problems with attaining length past my shoulders and thinning hair through my crown. I really do appreciate the information you have provided on this and other threads.
Thank you! ;)
