Hello! Thank you for clicking on my post.

here’s a brief summary of what’s going on with my hair:
  • My hair was beautiful and thick growing up long healthy you know you’ve seen this before
  • I started getting relaxers because I have a white mom and the maintenance was too expensive and too hard for her.
  • Once I got my relaxers my hair went right to shoulder length and has yet to go pass there
  • I wash my hair at least once a week. I use the biotin shampoo, head and shoulders for Dan drift, and I have an oil solution that I made with essential oils that really helps my hair feel good and helps it should be shiny
  • I wash my hair at least once a week. I use biotin shampoo, head and shoulders for Dan drift, and I have an oil solution that I made with essential oil’s that really helps my hair feel good and helps it should be shiny I also have been continuously trimming the dead ants on my hair because I want it to grow out thick and full – not stragglY
  • The thing is, in the workplace it is socially acceptable to have styled straight hair if you have Afro hair. So I have been straightening my hair often.
  • I currently don’t have a relaxer in but I don’t know what my hair texture is at all.
  • I realize that the only way that I can get my hair to grow longer is if I stop using heat. But I can’t stop using heat if I don’t know how to style my hair without it.
I’d like to know if anyone has any advice on how I can find my hair texture. And how I can stylet without it being frizzy.

Attached are some pictures of my hair for reference. If you cannot see the pictures, please let me know. Below are the links if it helps too.

@Marie Foster welcome to the community. Unfortunately, from my perspective. It's too soon to tell. The other ladies will definitely come here and give you input and advice.

Do you plan to transition?

One thing I will state, is that your going to be going through a lot of changes in order to "find your self" in order to better understand your hair.

You may get support, or frustration from those who surround you. But don't fret and remain steadfast.

One hair style I would recommend is a flat twist in front with a bun. Buns will be your best friend. Make sure you have a hair scarf handy, with hair gel or pomade to help lay your hair flat.
To get through this ... simplicity is key.

Also can you clarify "workplace it is socially acceptable to have styled straight hair if you have Afro hair". What would happen if you came in with box braids or decide to do the big chop?
