Nude Shoes are not for Black Women!!!

    Okay..yeah right!

I was telling a co-worker of mine that I had recently bought some nude pumps...and I was planning on debuting them at my friend's wedding.

She gave me a weird look.... --->>:ohwell::perplexed:sad: all wrapped in one!

I asked why she got so put off. She told me that nude shoes and black people don't go!! :scratchch:scratchch:down::down:

She said that nude shoes don't look right on Black people!!

She's black also...I couldn't believe she said that...

I will try and find pics...

I think this couldn't be any further from the truth...but it got me wondering..does anyone else feel this way???

I think nude I lovely to be honest!!!!
but then again there are different shades of nude, for my skin tone I know I wouldn't rock the louboutins classic pump in nude for ex cuz i think the shade is too light.
I hv seen other nudes tht are to die ( or kill lol) for however

um? Wth? I hate all these random restrictions we put on our selves! Who said nude pumps don't look good on us? They look good on Tyra right there. Hmph. Just like with anything else you gotta choose a color that works with and compliments your skin tone. Whatever to your coworker lol.

I think that we can wear nude - who wrote the imaginary rule that we can't - but more often than not, nude is a shade lighter than a lot of black people. In a sense, "HER nude is not MY nude." :giggle:

I love nude shoes in summer. And there are many shades of nude shoes.

So who is supposed to look good in nude shoes. White people with pale legs look HORRIBLE in them.

I think brown skin....or tanned white skin look the best in nude shoes. But it also depends on the shade of nude against the leg

I see nude shoes like nude lipstick/glosses: you have to find the right nude for you. I have yet to find a 'nude' pump but I'm still searching.

well you have to match up the shoes with your complexion.
maybe she's thinking of that light nude. my one pair are like the ones Tyra has on in that picture...but I got a bit tanner so now it's like awww....lol.
they look good but even in Cosmo mag they were matching nudes up by complexion and darker girls had on the darker "nude" shoes.

Yes you all are SO right. Nude works for whatever YOUR complexion is. The most perfect pair I ever seen is Steve Madden. They are the right nude FOR ME and my peanut butter complexion :) Yes please take pics for your friend! SHOW US TOO!!!

    I'm confused.
I didn't even think 'nude' shoes had to match your skin.

^^^ Well, they don't have to, but it's the effect that we try to achieve.
For me, I want to elongate the leg.

Exactly. I think it looks best when the Nude DOESN'T match your skintone.
If anything, i think it's White women that look a bit odd in Nude colours! :ohwell:

    • Logically speaking if you took off all your cloths and put those shoes on they would clearly "stand out" so why do "WE" (blindly) adopt the term "Nude" to describe these?....
    • The color Nude is totally "subjective".I think the "Color" of these "Footwears" should be refered to "Taupe". Not Nude!
    • :ohwell: Nude may appear Nude on folks that lack melanine, but us's that got it should not go around stating that they are wearing "Nude" shoes.

I fell the same way when I read that so-in-so black actress had on "Nude" pumps and I look at the picture of this "ebony beauty" and "clearly" the shoes don't appear "Nude" on her. Looks like she has on tan/taupe pumps.
Bear with me. I grew up in the era when the crayon now referred to as "Peach" was called "Flesh"..... :perplexed: ..as I remember stating to my mom that it doesn't look like my "Flesh".

Because if you wear a pair of Nude/Flesh coloured shoes for example, v. similar to your skintone - from afar it looks as though you're not wearing anything on your feet! :ohwell:

I've also seen photo's of a few White actresses wearing Nude coloured fitted dresses (very close to their skin colour) & at a glance, they almost look naked! Not a good look.

(I would tend to go with a "Nude" that's a good few shades lighter than my skin).

^ Umm, that's the point (nothing on the feet). To elongate the leg, so it looks like one looooong line....

I think most of you are referring to brown shoes. That's what the rest of the world, myself included, would call them. Nude isn't subjective. Its a shade of taupe and no person of color falls into that group.

I think people of color can wear nude but I hate this pic of Tyra. The chicken legs look a little bruised and her feet look like boats. :nono:

I was trying to show that the contrast was okay for women of color!

I bought a pair of heels that are close to the color of my skin. I didn't even buy them for that purpose. I just needed something to go with a suit of mine. Anyway, one day, I wore them to school with a jean skirt, and I stopped a professor mid-stride. I was far away, so they made my legs look great! I'm not even five feet tall, but I feel they elongated my legs and accentuated my muscles.

Unfortunately, they are not very dressy, so now I am on a mission to find a great pair of nude heels that are comfortable. I want to be able to wear them a lot, so I'll pay quite a bit for them. What is nude to a white person is not nude to me, and I am aware of that. I'd never purchase their nude.

I thought nude was just whatever colour matches the wearers skin tone. Hence NUDE (naked).

Nude for me is brown. I had a great pair once like ten years ago, but have never been able to find the right shade of brown for my Nude.:detective:
