On the verge of a backslide.....

I now realize that the hair I fell in love with which made me what to grow out my relaxer is ONLY IN THE FRONT QUADRANT OF MY HEAD! This bipolar hair thing is no working out! How do you ladies with varying hair types (my front section is manageable 4a and my back section is 4b-z i.e. not very cooperative) deal with this problem. The creamy crack is callin' but I really want to give my natural hair a try.

4b hair doesn't have to be unmanagable once you get the hang of it. Use a good conditioner that makes your hair soft and slippery to help.

I agree, just learn to supply both textures with the necessary moisture they need while minimizing manipulation. Once you get those two particular aspects down, I don't see a reason why any section of your hair should remain unmanageable - try more to work with what you've got
. (I also had to do this).
