I think I've hooked my students on "Bad Boy" they ask if they're reading when they come to class. They're excited about the guided reading questions and getting to know about Walter. I'm really trying to keep them invested in the text and engaged and give them structured autonomy

Went to visit my students the other day and I had a gym full of students running up to hug me, say hi, and ask if I was coming back. I got a chance to talk to the 8th grade social studies teacher and he mentioned that when he asked the students who their favorite teacher was, the vast majority said that I was.

I was so humbled because last school year was really rough for me. I was trying to give 100% when I only had 20% to give ( time wasn't a thing that I had and I wasn't taking care of myself). Even with that 20%, I still made an impact. I think moments like that one, serve to refocus me. I teach for moments like that one.

So now my school is all about GOALS!!! We must have vertical content PLC goals and norms, 7th grade math collaborative group goals, a SMART goal that our students must achieve by the end of the school year, and individual goals that we will be measured on. It's only the third week of school and I am already over it!!!
