In fact, there are many vitamins that can give you healthy hair and also help prevent hair loss. At the same time taking high amounts of vitamins may also lead to hair loss. B vitamins are especially helpful because they contain: folic acid, Magnesium, Sulfur, Zinc, Inositol and Biotin.
Research findings show that with theses vitamins one can find a decrease in thinning hair. These results also show low intake of magnesium can cause hair loss in patches. One low in biotin or inositol results in total baldness. If you want to take vitamins for curing hair loss, these vitamins are necessary for good health when you take them in moderation. Vitamin A can cause hair growth. Before you decide on taking vitamins for hair growth, it is advisable to contact your doctor to know the underlying cause for hair loss. A blood test also helps to find out if there is deficiency of any of necessary vitamins.

Other foods apart from vitamins also help in promoting hair growth. Fatty acids help to improve the texture of hair and cure dryness and brittle ends. Instead of taking vitamins directly make sure your diet contains vitamin rich foods. Vegetables like beans, carrots and peas, eggs, nuts and bran can help in hair growth.

There are also shampoos and conditioners that contain vitamins. But it is not good rely on these alone. You can go for a hot oil treatment once or twice in a month. It helps in keeping your hair healthy. These are affordable alternatives rather than taking vitamins for hair growth every day. Anyway there is no danger of taking more vitamins for hair growth.
Folic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin that is very effective for healthy hair growth. It can be found in Brewer’s yeast, liver, fruits, leafy vegetables, oranges, rice, soybeans, and wheat. Apart from helping in hair growth it also helps in normal red blood cell formation, maintains the central nervous system, and is also helpful for normal growth and development. It is also effective in treatment of certain anemias and sprue.

This is my staple vitamin. As the article says there are 50-11 vitamins and supplements you can take for hair but if you only want to be bothered with one (other than a multivitamin) then make it b-complex.

i see they're good for energy too and SO needed some more triple fish oil so i added some b complex for both of us.
