Thanks to Virtuenow we are going to start another one!!!!

WEAVE IT UP CHALLENGE 2013
JANUARY 26,2013-JANUARY2014
OR FOR PEOPLE THAT WANT TO DO IT FOR SIX MONTHS JANUARY 26, 2013 TO JUNE26,2013

Weaving your hair is one of the ultimate protective styles for retaining hair length. Continuing this challenge for those ladies that want to braid it up, then weave it up, and then leave it alone! The benefit of this challenge is to allow your hair to rest while avoiding heat,over-manipulation and overall damage. By leaving your hair alone it has nothing to do but RETAIN LENGTH!

THE RULES:

1.Istall your weave ( it can be full or partial/curly,or straight;may include a braid perimeter)

2.Shampoo hair at least once every 2 weeks
Instructions on how to shampoo hair while in a weave.

Take an applicator bottle and dilute your shampoo with water. Lift each track and squirt the shampoo under the weave. It will create an almost instant lather, then GENTLY massage your scalp in between the track to loosen dirt, debris, and build up.

3.Moisture your braided hair at least 2-3x a week.

Instructions on how to moisturize hair.

Lightly mist your favourite watery moisturizer or leave-in and apply to braid hair or;
Create your own moisturizer by diluting a light conditioner and spritzing your braided hair or;
Use an applicator bottle filled with your preferred moisturzer and apply to braided hair.

[Product suggestions include African Royale Braid spray, Infusium 23, Aphogee Pro-Vitamin Leave In Conditioner, or a mix of water/conditioner. (VO5 or Suave)/ aloe vera juice/and/or oil.

4.Keep trimming to a bare minimum.
You can dust your ends for knots and splits before each installation.

5.Leave your weave in for an appropriate amount of time. Up to two to three months MAX is ideal.
Disclaimer: Trying to push the install beyond four months increases the likelihood of matting and tangles.
However, there are members who have done so successfully.

6. Shampoo and Deep Condition your hair after each removal and before each installation.

Re-install weave within 1-3 weeks upon removal.

8. Check in regularly, motivate, discuss and post pictures of your beautiful hair and installs :yep:

9. Post your regimen and staple products!!!

THIS IS A YEAR CHALLENGE; YOU MAY DECREASE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO!

Optional:grin: a starting picture of your own hair.

Required: An ending picture-- preferably comparison pictures of your start and finish.
I will let everyone know to post at the end of the challenge and to share! Everyone should highly encourage to post picture of their installs, new growth, progress, etc.
in order to keep the thread interesting and informative.

I've been wearing weaves for a year now so I may do the six months challenge... Don't be surprised if I do a year

Regimen:

Every 2 to 4 weeks I shampoo and condition
Every day or every other day I will spray moisturizer with scurl

I keep it in for 2 months

And I'm very careful with scurl to preserve the weave

Products you are using for your own hair and for your weave:

My hair- tresemme naturals Shammpoo and conditioner, scurl, Jamaican Castor Oil

I usually don't put anything on the weave
END of challenge goal:
I want to get passed neck length... I finally decided to grow my pixie cut out and it's driving me crazy

Post a starting length picture;or describe starting length/condition:

My hair is in Nubian twist right now... It's longest layer is neck length the top is still very short

You can add me to the list. I got a full head install on 12/28. I would like to wear this weave for a good 8 - 10 weeks. Afterwards I will get my hair relaxed and then go back in a weave prob 2 weeks later. See avi for weave pic

I wash my weave every week.. apply deep conditioner to my leave out and Elucence MB to the weave hair. I blow dry and make sure my braids underneath are well dry and then I put in flexi rods. The remainder of the week my hair is in pin curls or in a ponytail.

I plan on keeping up with this regimen at least through August at the very least.

Im in. I did the big chop a few months ago and only have about an inch or so of coarse natural hair. So I did a cap on Friday to see how it goes...so far my horseshoe is struggling, lol. (I will come back with pics later.) The install is beautiful but I dont know what to do moving on. Should i look into a closure? I want something that is realistic so that is why I didnt opt for a full sewin. After I take out this cap, Im gonna do box braids till my hair grows out and then I'll swing back into weaves by Spring/Summer.

HOW LONG ARE YOU WEARING SEW-INS (Total):

I usually do 6 to 8 weeks. I take 2 or 3 breaks from weaves throughout the year, that's when I trim.

Why are you wearing sew-ins:

I don't like flat ironing my own hair so it's easier do use sew ins.

Regimen:
I wear full weaves with just the front left out.

Products you are using for your own hair and for your weave:
Nexus shampoo, VO5 and all types of oils.

END of challenge goal: MBL

I want to join. I'm going to be weaving it through 2013 and just took out my first weave last week after 6 weeks. Currently saving up for the next weave hair - www.kinkycurlyyaki.com. I'm natural and fix afro kinky hair.

HOW LONG ARE YOU WEARING SEW-INS (Total): 6 - 8 weeks is my target.
Why are you wearing sew-ins: I wanted my hair to get some rest. I discovered I'm anaemic last year which was slowing down my hair growth and manipulation was causing additional hair loss. Doctor put me on iron and I just figured leaving my hair alone was best hence the weaves.
Regimen: I spray inbetween my tracks 2 - 3 times a week with a mix of infusium 23 and essentials oils. I wash every 2 weeks.
Products you are using for your own hair and for your weave: As I Am coconut cowash and CON argan oil shampoo for my leave out hair. Regular conditioner for weave hair.
End of challenge goal: My main goal is for my hair to grow in peace and get some rest. If it decides to hit APL by the end of the year, I won't complain .
Post a starting length picture;or describe starting length/condition:
No pictures now but my starting length is BSB I think and it was a tad thin before I put in the weave.

Seems the answer to my hair problems is to not touch it at all. Only possible if it's in a weave, wig or braids!

Here's what I'm saving up for:- http://kinkycurlyyaki.bigcartel.com/product/curly

I got this hair from a girl on Instagram. It's called Brazilian curly the hair company is Bella Goddess Hair. I got 16, 18, & 20 inches of hair each 4 bundles for $179. This is my 2nd install with this hair I had it put in before Christmas and I just re-installed it yesterday. It's really good hair!

Washed my hair and weave last night... Scalp feels good but this synthetic weave came out okay. I'm not complaining cause the weave was only $20 but I want to last the month.

Latest Install- 'done by Me

slanted bob
Used 12" Indian Remy Hair and a closure piece
I bought this hair over 1 1/2 years ago when hair was cheaper and never used it. I normally do longer styles but I'm loving this bob! It's meant for a straight style but I actually left if curly all week. I just flat ironed it yesterday . I like that I can rock two textures.

Oh, and if you're hitting up H-town for All Star, holler at me. I'm currently installing weaves at a discount. PM me.
