What are some bandwagons you jumped on that was a major FAIL for you?

This is hilarious!

1. Vag itch stuff.... Comical
2. No cones... Not again. My hair does just fine with cones. mainly because I can afford the stuff with cones and so I actually keep up with my regimen.... What I did need was pH balancing stuff. ACV rinses are awesome for me
3. Texlaxing... My hair abhors relaxers for any length of time. Had to cut all that hair off and start over.
4. Roller setting my natural hair lol... Maybe when its longer I will use all those rollers under my sink. Right Now its like 50 dollars in a grocery bag next to the draino.

I think thats it for now. I'm not really a bandwagon freak

Pre-poo did nothing for me as well. I only pre-poo when I have conditioners I don't like and need to use-up.

My hair liked henna and ayurvedic powders, but my time and man didn't .

Flowers of Sulfur - ordered online. It left a residue that wouldn't wash right out. It stuck through 2 shampooes and other as soon as the water hit it.

Baggying overnight - dog smell poofing out every time I changed position.

Ovation - worse than a casino for stealing your money.

Pre-poo-overnight - same as baggying just slimier.

MN - migraines

Inversion - felt silly

Baggying
Pre poo
Oil rinses-- first time I thought wow this really works. Second time around my hair felt dry even after I did my regular wash day regimen.
Avoiding products with sulfates-- my hair loves bubble :)
Baggying-- my hair was mushy for days and not in a good way. I prefer the loc method.
Wigs challenge-- once upon a time I was a wig wearing diva. I loved the diversity and endless options. Unfortunately I had to cut my bsl hair off to neglecting my hair. I am proud to say I've been weave clean all of 2013 :) nothing against wigs I just got lazy, but it has helped me embrace my own "wig" on my head and care for it. The same money I woud have invested on wigs, it goes straight to my own hair. I'm not downing anyone who wears them, this is just my personal experience :)

Wen...caused massive shedding and my first setback...2 years later I'm still bitter.

YUUP! After 3 washes and I kept seeing chuck loads of shed hair coming out I was done. For me being a wen head would=a bald head. Sorry about your setback.

Adding conditoner to the relaxer. Did this and could not determine how long to leave the relaxer in. I ended up with severely underprocessed hair. Never again.

Plus I stopped jumping on bandwagons. Trial and error for me.

Megatek, just couldn't be bothered, I used it like twice lol
Oil rinsing, almost broke my neck in shower. Made me feel greasy and itchy even after thoroughly rinsing
Msm and other hair related vitamins, too inconsistent taking them
I think I've found my hg products and routine so I hope I'm done lol

Denman Brush- yanked my hair out and gave me splits
ACV- some people like it but it dries my hair out
Henna- Full henna treatments are a no go for me, it caused me a major setback. I still use henna now but I only had a couple of tablespoons to a moisturizing conditioner
Maxiglide- left me w/serious split ends

Crisco.

Oh mah gosh. :nono:

It worked great for awhile then started to break my hair. But I can say it is great for anyone who has eczema.

Big Hair, Don't Care
Well, lets see:

Aloe Vera rinses: My hair tangled like a beast

Weekly medium/heavy protein: My hair tangled so that I wished I had no hair

Yogurt DC's: Did not do much more for me than conditioner would. There was also the fear of leaving yeast on my scalp.

Butter/Sour cream Dc's: My hair felt like greasy straw.

Terresentials: My hair was preternaturally detangled at all times, but my hair was dry dry dry.

Co-washing with conditioner only: My scalp asked me why I ever thought that was a good idea. The itching was terrible.

Returning to sulfate shampoo: My hair asked why I thought THAT was a good idea. My hair was MATTED.

Sulfate free shampoos- My hair had so much build up it was literally stuck together... When I finally used a sulfate shampoo my hair was so happy it bounced and swang at every turn of my head.

Protective Styling - Caused thinning around my edges and crown and left them sore, made my ends crunchy and bent. I ended up having to cut hair.

Natural shampoos- My hair was a dry, tangled, matted mess... Never again.

Though I am natural I am a straight hair natural. I get constant single strand knots and twisted crunchy ends from trying to wear my hair in it's natural state so I rollerset and I retain almost all my length.

I jumped on the coochie cream and thumbed my nose up on crisco. How can I judge?

Misseyl, OT but, if you stopped adding conditioner to your perm, what do you use to dilute the relaxer? Oils?

Nothing. I'm using Phytorelaxer Index I and what it does is relax the curls somewhat, I need to flatiron to get it straight. So even thou it looks straight when I'm relaxing it, when it's shampooed it looks natural. What I find was that Index II was too harsh and I was constantly having breakage. Now that I've switched, I've noticed that my hair is fuller and it's retaining length, even at my edges which would not grow beyond a certain length is doing better. This time next year I hope to have a better head of hair than I do now.

Baggying left my hair mushy and my scalp inflamed.
Tea rinses left my hair dry and crispy.
The LOC method left my hair gummy (LCO works best for me).
Using conditioners as leave-ins did not work for my hair.
Most Shea Moisture products leave my hair a tangly mess.

That's all the bandwagons I was willing to jump on. :ohwell:

*Wet Bunning-The most breakage I ever experienced
*Cowashing- Itchy scalp and dryness
*Carols Daughter- Just a disaster! That stuff should be banned. :nono:
*Cold ACV Rinses- Hard, knotted hair
*Cheapie Conditioners- Gave Suave Naturals three chances. Almost had to cut my hair:nono:
