your hair sheds/breaks off? My does :ohwell: and I'm not talking a little bit either. I get less breakage when I brush my hair.

No!

How do you massage your scalp?

I don't even run my fingers through my hair when I do it... are you? If not, then how is the hair falling out? Just when you touch your scalp?

I do it very gently and I don't even attempt to get directly on my scalp with tons of new growth and I don't see any breakage from it.

no mine dosent, when i message I only use my fingertips, and i dont run my fingers through my hair at all :nono:

I have a great deal of NG (I'm 9 weeks post) and I get straight to the scalp and massage it good. I'll try just moving my scalp as appose to the hair.

Thanks!

My hair doesn't break when I massage my scalp but....

I was reading up about hair on this UK trichologists' (sp?- hair specialist people) website and under Afro hair it said that one should never massage the scalp with this type of hair because it will break off. When I read that all I could think was "oooooo...I wonder what the ladies at LHCF would have to say about this?" :ohwell:

Really, I wonder why?

I had a feeling you were doing it like that. I used to do it like that also when I was massaging my roommate's scalp and her hair would shed like crazy.

Thats the wrong way to do it. You're supposed to use both hands and have one hand going clockwise and the other counter clockwise. So you're doing it in circles. I do it this way and I dont get any shedding. Rubbing is no good:nono:
