Wow! I did it - texturized my virgin hair. Now what??

Sorry I haven't been around much lately (my mother passed), but I'm doing fine now :)
Well, today I took the plunge and got my hair texturized - Yes, after almost 15 yrs of natural hair. My hair is super kinky and now that I've taken more of an interest in taking care of it, I could not handle the constant tangles and knots anymore. My HD used Designer Essential for 10 minutes. She rinsed w/ neutralizer like 4 times and then deep conditioned, blowdryed and flatironed. I went home with it wrapped up.
My question is: Now what?? My hair is fine/thin. I've never had chemicals in my hair and am wondering if there is anything special I should do to my hair in the next week and thereafter...I plan on washing/cornrowing my hair weekly (as I did pretexture). I'll wear a wig as needed.
Any advice on maintaining texturized hair would be appreciated. BTW, how often should I texturize? I was thinking 3 months...

Please tell me more about your texturizing experience... like how are your washngos since you have been texturized and how did it look afterwards... I 'm asking all these questions because I am a natural who considering texturizing my hair...

Sorry I can't say as yet as I just got it done yesterday. I did not do wash n gos before and I don't think I'll be doing them now. I plan to keep my hair cornrowed as I am trying to acheive length. The main reason I texturized was for manageability. I could not handle the knots and tangles.

I have my hair texturized and I wear wash and gos quite a bit, so I can answer this. My hair is very lightly texturized, so it still looks a lot like it did before I texturized. There is a huge difference in manageability and much, much less shrinkage. I use Curly Pudding for curl definition and frizz control. Pretty much, my hair looks a lot like it did before--I'd say it looks like my damp natural hair--right before it would shrink up.
