OMG!!! it looks great but I was wondering why her hair was never getting that long, she was cutting it. I guess everyone just don't want super duper longer LOL it really look nice.

Yeah, the girl cut ALOT! Her hair looks dang good. But we have different textures. I'm sure her hair is a 3c, with a lil 4a. My hair is 4a or 4b.

Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
Whoa! What beautiful results! It looks feathery light and silky smooth.

Why can't I live in STL?

I know this is a sign I've been on LHCF too long but I expected it to be longer. She does not have much shrinkage at all (compared to me and I'm nowhere near the shrinkiest). Didn't she say she hadn't had a cut since like 2006 or something?

She said she haven't had it done professionally since 2007, but she's cut it herself. I get the impression she doesn't want long hair.

This is what she said in her post: "I snip the ends of my twists (a little shorter in the back) once every two months to keep a chin length-ish bob, which gives my fine hair improved volume."

It's not that she didn't retain, but she just maintained her hair at that length.

She cuts it. The article says...
Marie was surprised at how nearly even I've managed to keep my hair with my at home trimming sessions! I snip the ends of my twists (a little shorter in the back) once every two months to keep a chin length-ish bob, which gives my fine hair improved volume. Apparently it's a pretty effective technique!

Her ends looked fine. You can't compare blown out hair to flat ironed hair. The stylist did cut a lot, but that's what they do. The end result was lovely. It's so silky straight.

I know I'm being a bit particular but "snipping the ends" sounds like trimming, not cutting. To maintain the exact same length for five years, she'd have to be "snipping" away 6 inches of growth per year. "Snip" doesn't seem to cover it.

Not hating though! Love Nikki, love her hair, think it looks great. These are just the crazy thoughts LHCF plants in my head.:drunk:

Wow! Maybe I should check into that oi/oil. That's a beautiful, silky straight look. :lick:

**checks online for pricing**

Yeah...uh...she wasn't kidding about it being pricey. So far I'm seeing $30-40 for 4.56 ounces. (not including shipping) :ohwell:

OUCH! LOL. I've purchased their hair masks in the past and it wasn't even that much. I've brought it from local salons...

I've known Nikki for years and she's never been interested in having long hair. I was shocked to see her straighten her hair. It looks beautiful and silky.

prettypithy I think you're willfully ignoring the part where she says she doesn't want it any longer and keeps it at that length. LHCF has implanted a "does not compute" chip that won't allow the idea of not wanting super long hair to penetrate

I thought she meant she kept snipping her ends to have a chin length bob whilst it was in it's curly state. I was a little taken aback at the amount that was cut whilst straight.

I think it looks great. Just wondering if this isn't the norm for naturals getting professionally straightened. It's my expectation when paying for my hair to be silky straight with lots of body.

My exact thoughts upon seeing the after pics:lol:. Her hair looks gorgeous but errm looks like the stylist got a lil too scissors happy:look::look:

That's why i presumed she kept it a certain length whilst 'curly'. Now when she washes her hair it's not going to be a chin length bob.

Yes, as a lifelong natural, it was my expectation too when I used to straighten my hair on a regular basis. But the difference between what I used to get and what Nikki got is probably 150 degrees. I didn't know it was possible to get hair that silky at a lower temperature.

it looks nice. her stylist isn't anything out of the ordinary. her hair curly and straight are both easily achievable

I guess it's out of the ordinary for me because I'm used to people using too much heat or not willing to deal with natural hair at all. I guess I never lived in a natural hair care Mecca - even the Bay Area was hard in some ways to find a stylist.
