Hi, I just read another thread about the worst products and Elasta QPs butter came up a lot.

I thought everyone one liked it so I stocked up on it, the only thing I have noticed is that the tub goes mouldy after a month which is pretty gross:( :(

Does any hater of this brands version prefer another hair butter thats more value for money??

Try getting all natural mango butter and other butters on ebay. I ordered some 100% natural mango butter from an ebay seller named bourgeoisbargains.

She also has a website
www.bourgeoisbargains.com

The thing is another user on another forum metioned that she doesnt like Elasta qp because it goes off too quick and gets mould in it. I didnt believe her and thought it was a one off till I looked in a tub I had used for all but a month the other day and there was mould growing inside:(

I only purchased it once and it left clumps in my hair. I hated the product. Only tried it because of all the raves, when I first got to the board, and it did not work out for me. I think I mentioned it in a previous thread a while back as well. Just goes to show that some products are a hit with some and can be a complete miss for others.

I know you must feel serious coz car fresheners have the worst scent in the world:(

I've had 2 mango butters in my drawer for 4 years and neither mold. Just opened them up to look and they are fine.

Have you used any before? This happened when I got right down to the last bit. There must be some conditions under which this happens though as I have never had a hair or skin cream that goes mouldy before, its strange.

The first time I used this butter I didn't like it because I was very heavy handed and it made my hair greasy.

However, the next time I used it (which was several months later...almost 8 months I'd say) I really like it because I only put in a few dime sized amounts.

Currently I use avocado butter. I like it because It has a really soft consistency and is naturally very moist. But I also use it sparingly as well. I have never tried pure mango butter, but it's on my list.

My qp mango butter didn't mold. I think that's very unusual.

One of them I had used and one was unused. It was actually after I saw this thread that I went and put some of the one I had used on my hair, everything was fine and the smell was still strong.

When I first purchased it, I didnt like it. Too thick and greasy. But now I dilute it with water, and for me, it works great. *You got me scared about that mold though... my head just started itchin'- lol*

Same here! I've never had a mold problem.... I wonder if those were legit products... or if something was wrong with the batch?

I have a love/hate relationship with Mango Butter. Sometimes, its ok other times I'm steadily on the lookout for a better moisturizer. I think the key is not being heavy handed and to use it sparingly. I remember when I first started reading haircare boards, all I heard was moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. So I used to use handfuls at a time.

I wanna try that Keracare Moisturizer that Macherieamour uses.

I don't hate it just adore it. Here is my experience with it, I bought it for the first time when I first started on the board and didn't care for it; but after sometime and reasearch I found out the jar I had was just old and who knows how long it sat on the shelf.

The first jar was pasty and thick, so after moving and going to another BSS I tried it again; all of the jars on the shelf it was creamy and light.

Mind you when I use it I use very very little on my ends and fly aways. I normally only use it when I first wash my hair when it wet to roller set or if I do blow dry (don't spank me). The only other time is after I take my hair down for the first time after sleeping on my hair wrap I may want to bump my ends and I put a little on the ends.

I have found this prouduct should sparenly, it does not see to be an everyday product to me.

I also bought it awhile back and it was pasty and thick and after reading a thread about what the consistency is supposed to be I ordered a sample from the company itself. The company sample was light and fluffy and I only need about a dime sized amount, it works well. I rotate using this and ORS Carrot oil. LOVE them! Also, I love the smell!

I agree with Neonbright, it doesn't seem to be a product that can be used everyday, unless your hair is kept in a bun, or braids. I personally like to use it on the ends of my braids when my hair is braided up, or I'll use it on wet hair to get a nice soft and shiney twist-out.

Good thing I've never had mine get molded on me, but I have since traded it in for Mendhi raw shea butter.

LadyZ- Great progress, I've been watching for an update in that siggy or avatar.

I thought it was just ok and I definitely did not like the smell. Why does EVERYTHING have to be perfumed to high heaven?! I wish there were more products without heavy perfumes.

Oh how I hate this product. I bought solely for my ends and it left my ends super hard and dry :nono: Off to find a good moisturizer for my ends only.

This is a staple for me! I CANNOT, and i repeat CANNOT live w/o it. I think it depends on how ur using it though, I see many ppl are saying they use it on their ends, i've never used it this way however I use it on my edges. When I mean it can have 14 week post edges lookin like I got a fresh touch up I haven't found anything like it! Not even gel!

ETA: I have NEVER encountered mold! I've been using this since I was in college years before I found LHCF and never had a moldy jar
