Who does NOT believe in growth aids

I agree that white people do bun and wear protective stylES, but I often wonder if its to promote growth or to just keep their hair out of the way
We all know that our hair is drier and more prone to dry out--especially the ends. So protective styling is useful, not fun or easy...but useful none-the-less.

I don't believe in growth aides either. My hair grows slow, but it does grow so I don't feel I need to use them. It may take me a while to get the long hair of my dreams, but it will get there.

Although many ladies had success with them, I don't think it's for me. I already have issues with taking regular vitamins consistently, so anything more would be a waste of money.

As for creams and topical stuff, I should be doing regular scalp massages with and with out oil, and I don't always keep up with it. Again, anything more would be a waste.

I'm trying to focus on the the basics: eat right, get enough rest, drink lots of water, excercise, and taking regular vitamins.

This is my problem I don't like taking pills so if i take my vitamins ones a day for a week I'm doing good. So no growth aids are not for me.

I don't believe in growth aids either, and I've tried them all. I do take a multi-vitamin for overall health - that is when I can remember. I think what helps me is exercise and eating right.
You have AMAZING progress! Your hair is so thick and beautiful....wow!

When I first joined the site I took mtg for a few months to fill in a thinning area in the middle of my head and it really works to thicken the hair. After that I take nothing besides my multi vitamin and have found out that my hair grows the 1/4 - 1/2 inch per month and that's fine with me. So hopefully by next year this time I can be at brastrap!!!!

I stopped taking everything a good while back b/c I just didn't believe any of it was making my hair grow faster. I took HF37 and I took Biotin, gelatin, GNC Ultra skin hair nails, MSM, ooh lord, just about everything y'all have mentioned on this board! Wild Growth Oil, homemade MTG, miconazole nitrate, all of that stuff--no difference. But, I've been reading the threads about carrot juice and protein diets and I think I may try a dietary change to see if that helps.
So, i guess based on experience, I don't really believe...Now, I will say that my nails were DA BOMB--strong, long, shiny, beautiful. It really made them grow faster so I know it was doing *something*. Its just this doggone hair will not grow fast.

I don't use any growth aids. I just let nature take its course. My hair grows slowly too.I think I might get.5 per month but I doubt it. I think I only get 4 inches a year. I'm not in a hurry though I just want healthy hair and the length will come soon after.:)

I def. do not believe in topical growth aids. I do think frequent washing and conditioning def. contributes to good hair growth and healthy moisturized strands though.
Personally, I take MSM and biotin for my nails... :look: ... I'm so serious, all my life my nails have been extremely brittle and my hair thrives. I get jealous when I see all the beautiful hands and nails of members when they post there hair pics.

Mmm, hmmmm:lol:

Sometimes I get tempted to use them.

But I have to remember the hard times I had with MN. Yeah, I got faster growth, but I don't know how to handle that. I am a softee. I have a hard time stretching anyway, the faster growth was hard for me.

I think if I had braids I would try again.

I know they do help speed up growth, but for me it was too much trouble.

I am using some La India 2 times a week, but I don't think it counts - does it?

I don't use growth aids. I began making wiser food choices and taking supplements for overall health, and as a "side effect", my hair is getting thicker ad growing faster.

Since I've been a member here I've tried just about everything. MTG did help me with transitioning. I stopped because I got scared, started using BT but I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, maybe because I don't relax so I can't tell where the "new growth" starts. I have been taking vitamins - biotin, b5, shen min, iron and a multi. I purchased some more MTG which I am now selling (Never used). Once I finish up my vitamins taking it back old school to the scotts emulsion what my mom used to give me as a child, and laying off of the growth aides because I no longer believe in them.

ETA: I have surge also that doesn't do anything for me. About to sell it.

This morning as I was contemplating using my BT I was thinking this very same thing. "Does this stuff even work'? Or are people getting normal growth and attributing it to BT/MTG?

I don't believe in topical ones anymore, only internal supplements like MSM, and Biosil(silica). I think that "things" on myscalp is what hinders my growth. My scalp has to able to do it's thing and breate!!!

I don't believe topical growth aids work either. I've used Surge and it didn't work. I didn't bother with MTG or any other growth potions. With most of these oil/potions, you have to massage your scalp everyday/2x a day. How can we be sure that it's the oil that is increasing growth and not simply the massage? We should do an experiment.

I use growth aids and I have found that they do work. I gained 1.75 inches in 4 weeks and that is not my normal growth rate. So, for me, growth aids do work. The only concerned I have about growth aids is that the growth is not uniformed throughout your whole head. I may gain 1.75 inches in one area but only 1 inch in another.

In the later part of august I will be getting a touch-up to see if growth aids are beneficial enough for me to continue.

Since I last posted I've given up even taking a multi vitamin. As long as I keep my diet balanced (I'm eating vegetarian again) I don't feel that I need it.

I have never used topical growth aids. In the past, I took MSM and silica, for several weeks. But it's been a long time since I used either of them. My main focus is gentle, consistent hair care. I keep it clean, detangled, moisturized and in a protective style. I don't use heat. I think these things have helped me a lot when it comes to retaining the length.

I do take a multivitamin, calcium and vitamin D, but these are for my overall health. Lately, I have been paying more attention to my nutrition and fitness, including getting the proper amount of protein in my diet and sticking to a consistent exercise schedule. I truly believe that a healthy body will result in healthy hair.

Once in a while I wonder what would happen if I started using MTG or BT or MN. But never do I wonder to the point of actually buying these things. I can't say I don't "believe" in them or that people shouldn't use them. I can say, at this time, I don't believe in them for myself. :)

I am wondering who has achieved significant growth without the use of MTG, horsetail tea/herbs, flaxseed, biotin and other various supplments that we have determined could increase growth?

I love reading about everyone's success with oral and topical growth aids and I use MTG occasionally and take a multi for general health but I find it so hard to keep up with all the new developments that I just want to let nature take its course (with proper moisture and care, of course) and grow at whatever rate it wants to grow at.
I don't use anything. Just lot's of washing and leaving it alone otherwise. Attempted to take msm and epo, but they did nothing for me at all except the msm made my stomach upset and my face break out.
Just basic, good treatment will do better than anything else. I think people see improements because they are focusing on their hair more, not so much the "magic pills".

I dont use growth aids on my hair. I think its kinda time consuming for me and my scalp doesnt like it. I think the idea is to just keep it clean and moisturized and it should grow. Also drink lots of water and a healthy diet is a plus. I started to eat healthier and excersize in Jan and my hair is doing better than last year when I started my hair journey. Then again I was trying every damn product under the sun and washing it out the next day. :lachen: So i guess we could add consistency also does the trick too!

I don't use growth aids. I am tempted to try biotin, however, I know after awhile I will stop taking them. My hair grows at the average rate so I am okay with that.

I'm going to ditto that.

I take NOTHING right now. I feel like I shouldn't have to take pills right now, and I am grateful I dont have to. Because I know there will be a day when I need them. I am enjoying my pill-less days.

But yeah, I won't say I don't believe in them, but I wonder why 98% of people who use growth aides 1. don't ever post pics and/or 2. aren't past WSL (especially the ones who use them for more than a year). I might be more of a believer if I atleast saw some pics.

raises hand, i dont believe in them, nor have i used them. with the exception of wgo. but i use it for its moisturizing agent, not its growth claims.

I have used MTG in the past and received growth but I ain't never consistent with anything, I have BT and I didn't get any fast growth but it does helps my itchy scalp, But a Growth aide is not my sole products, I got fast growth by eating right, exercising, drinking, water and my Daily Vitamins which I have always taken even before I joined a haircare board, so I know my hair grows on it's own! But I don't knock those who use it and rely on it! But it is all about the Quick Fix just Like Weight Loss Products LOL!!!! and we all know what a quick fix does!

Today I brought my first hair growth aid, it's a little bottle of Frenchees that cost like $3.00. It smells like the smoke from a barbeque grill has been marinated into my hair!

I just wanted to try it because I heard the lot of ladies used it and liked it...just was curious. I also bought a little vial of horsetail (silica) that i will probably take irregularly.

I used MTG before, but never consistently, I couldn't deal with the smell and texture. My hair grows just fine without anything extra, I take care of it and try to keep as much as I can. Hair grows from the inside out, so I think the only thing that may boost your growth is vitamins.
