Anyone else nearing that one year mark
of their transition???

I have a couple of more weeks... it's exciting...
I'm going to post pics of my new growth when
I officially make a year but for now... just trying
to see who else is close to that milestone.

Im right there with you!!!!! Feb 10th will make a year for me!! I havent posted to many pics of my transition because of my crappy camera phone but i will definately try to for some 12 months post pics. Are you ever plannin on chopping southertease? or are you just gonna keep growing it out?

I will be chopping at 18 months.

I haven't even made the decision to go natural but I wanted to comend you on your progress. You Grow girl!

:wave:Me me me, oh me I just made a year on 1/10/08. ST be happy and excited! When I first decided to go natural I was really afraid because I never took care of my relaxed hair so, my natural texture scared me! :evilbanana:(I literally had bad dreams)

I have learned so much this pass year, and I am so glad for the wealth of knowledge and big hearted people on this site.

ME, ME, ME, ME!!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:
It will be a year on January 27th and I am tickled pink! The transition has been actually going much better than I expected. I won't be doing a BC, but rather cutting the relaxed ends off graduatlly. I just got about 2 inches cut 2 weeks ago.

Me I just made my 1yr on the 18th!!! I am excited, I just had another mini-chop so I may be fully natural before my goal, which is May. We'll see. Happy growing girls!!

Can you please tell me how you guys were able to flat iron your hair so strait a year after your transition? :ohwell: I am trying to get where you are, so please tell me your secrets!

very good 1 year of making the transition with wonderful growth....

im at the 5th month mark every month im getting more and more excited to see how my texture and new growth is...ive even thought about doing the BC..

Febuary will be my one year of transitioning. It's been trying at times but I'm learning what's good for my hair and what's not.

I'm not quite as far along, as the first week of Feb will make 10 months for me. I can't wait to make it to a year!!! I havent updated my fotki in a while.

Initially my plan was to BC somewhere around 18-22 months, but we will see. Things have been alot easier than I anticipated since I mini chopped about 3 inches in July.

I was hoping to see a reply from you in this thread. :yep:

I still have a few more weeks (March 1st will be my one-year mark). But shoooot, that's right around the corner.

Two more months to go. :nono: At the one year mark, I'll do a mini chop and cut my hair to shoulder length (in fact, it might be a little before that; for some reason I'm feeling all cutty). Right now the natural hair stretches to about ear length, which still isn't enough hair for me. I'll probably cut all the relaxer hair for good once the natural hair grazes the shoulder.

I don't have any intentions on doing a BC...
I haven't put scissors anywhere near my hair
in 10+ months... I don't plan on trimming at least
not until April... even then I might just dust the ends...
I won't be doing any trims until I reach BSL and then
I will just stay at BSL, trimming relaxed ends until my natural hair
reaches BSL... stretched of course...

I have 5 1/2" in on the on the left and 6" on the right, the back has no relaxed ends and had a trim so it is little over 5".

AlexB7 where did the time go?! I have enjoyed watching my relaxed ends that once weighed down my new grow now look sick compared to my fro. I think about choppin everytime I wash!

I use a CHI and it's a beast... it's all in the wrists.
I got my FHI for Xmas and I absolutley love it, I think completely different about straighting my own her!

lauren450, you make me want to cut my hair when I get home; it looks beautiful!

I got to the one year mark on Dec. 31 2007. I haven't trimmed my hair since Oct, and I'm actually due for another. I want to slowly cut out the relaxer and color that I had in my hair, without doing the BC. It's been a long road, because at times, I wanted to relax. I'm so excited to see my whole head natural, that I'm getting somewhat impatient. But slow and steady wins the race!!!

I'm at about 18 months of transitioning. I had every intention of doing the bc at the 12 month mark, but I was not use to the shrinkage and having shorter hair. I started transitioning when my hair was BSL. I have been keeping my hair at APL by doing mini chops every few months. My main hairstyle during this transition has been the infamous bun, but I've been trying to bun less and less. I was considering not ever doing the bc, but over the past month or 2 I have been so much more comfortable with styling options for when I'm fully natural. Also, I finally feel comfortable that I can actually maintain my natural hair.:yep:

I've been inspired by a lot of people on this site and am going to start with a year transition. I have a goal of 16 months to 2 years. I want longer hair to start over again. How are you clip the ends yourself? I want to be able to do things for myself this time around.

About how much ng do you guys have after one year? Do you have the text book 6 inches? More...less?

I have the textbook 6 inches. I got color 2 weeks after I had my last relaxer last year, so it's much easier for me to measure the NG using the color as a marker.

I just wanted to come in and say congrats to you ladies for lasting a year or more. I tried but I just couldn't hold out. Had to snip.

I finally made 1 YEAR
into my transition this week!!!

able to get them on my computer... so I will try again
soon and post those pics to this thread.
