So far I've only tried synthetic. They're cheaper, and I don't get mad if I hate the wig after buying it. I don't wear wigs daily, just every now and then if I'm going out and my hair is acting a fool.

i only wear human hair lace wigs. i always think about buying synthetic but i can never make the plunge. i rather buy human hair and it lasts a few years.

I voted it depends.
I really like full lace wigs (human hair) and own one, but it's a task to apply it. I will reserve the human hair lace wigs for special occasions and vacations and I'll toss on a cute BSS synthetic all other times because it's less hassle.
I really like that human hair has so much versatility. You can use flat irons, curling irons, do braidouts, etc. but with a synthetic, what you see is what you get.

I prefer synthetic falls because they're good looking and cheap. I workout in them so they get really sweaty therefore I don't keep them that long as I throw them away and repurchase. Also note, I always buy two, a regular everyday wear one and a workout one. YES, I have workout hair, LOL.

How long does a synthetic wig typically last? How do you take care of them?

v2.0 the wig I use for everyday use lasts me quite a few months. The workout one I only throw it away when it starts to smell sweaty, I wash them in a tub of warm water with CON shampoo and let it drip dry. They look brand new after the wash, actually I tend to like them better after washing them, they fall into place and frame your head/face better. Oh yeah after washing the curls just fall right back into place. HTH

good to know

Ive only tried synthetic half wigs so far, but I plan to buy one that is human hair asap.... ITA that they are more versatile....

I wear both and keep a stash of both for diff occasions I still have to try a full lace wig I'm just into the application process plus I keep my hair in a sew in 80 percent of the time, to get the curls to bounce back I do the same light wash the hair and airdry finger combing the hair back to life lol I never get straight synthetic falls the hair is too babydollish for me oh n I only wear falls not full wings at all hth ;)

It depends on how long you want it to last. Human hair wigs definitely last longer than synthetic. If I know I only plan to wear a wig for a month or so, I get it in synthetic.

But lately Ive been purchasing human lace wigs because I see them as good investments, they last me at least 6 months.

I also have workout wigs (lol) .. they are usually my old synthetic wigs though.

synethic.because Im a poor college student who doesnt ever want to wear my natural hair out at all..I think I m embarassed of my natural hair to some degree and I prefer the quickness of a wig..

Most of my synthetic lacefronts are much better than my human hair. IMO human hair is much more work than synthetic. Plus, I like to change my style up alot, so synthetic is cheaper and can last long with proper care.

For straight syles I like human hair better. I have never found a straight synthetic wig that did not look like doll hair, except for Freetress Milano girl. Trust me when I say that my texlaxed hair does not blend with synthetic straight hair at all.

For curly/wavy styles definitely synthetic because I do not want to spend the time curling/waving.

My all time fav is Vanilla Girl and she is a synthetic, like other posters have stated I like them because they are inexpensive. My syn. wigs last about 3-4 months.

I like the synthetic because they're low maintenance and the human-hair wigs don't last so much longer that I see a reason for paying more!

Depends in the wig and how long you plan to wear it. For something quick and fun I usually buy synthetic. But for classic styles I plan to keep in my arsenal to wear occassionally I typically buy human.

Synthetics tend to hold their style longer. If it rains, gets wet, humidity, etc. The curls won't fall. They're also inexpensive. You can find a decent synthetic for about $20.00. But whatever style the wig is initially set in is the way it will stay. They have a tendency to look shiny so make sure you try it on in the store to see how you like it.

Humans behave like real human hair. You can curl, wrap, wash, style, etc. But if you get it wet, go out in the rain, etc. the curls will fall, With human hair you may have to flat iron, curl, bump, etc. for the wig to maintain it's original style. And sometimes after you wash it, it may never look the same again.

Human doesn't neccessarily last longer than synthetic. It depends how often you plan to wear the wig. HH wigs also shed which will cause the wig to thin out over time. Once it thins out, it may not look good anymore. The quality of the human hair on these wigs usually isn't that great either so it may begin to look ratty after a few washes or after wearing it for an extended period of time.

Also human wigs are usually priced by the length. If you are looking for a wig past say shoulder length expect to spend probably at least $75 for a full wig. A half wig may be a little cheaper.

I have always gotten synthetic, because they are quick, easy, and cheap. And i may want to change my hairstyle in 2 weeks. The only thing about them, especially the curly ones is you have to be careful, they will tangle. I usually get long hair( bsl or longer curled) and even taking very good care of it, they will tangle at the back of my neck. A human hair wig you can just restyle.

i like synthetic, for the variation and the price. I have used human in the past and i usually always kept the same style and it cost me 80 bucks a pop.. but it was the safe thing to do, because I always knew it would look nice. I was able to do braidouts and all and it held up well for months..

It depends on the type of human hair. If it's the kind most of us buy where it wasn't one strand, but many strands glued together, it won't last long. They take little pieces of several Indian women's dead hair that came out of their combs and brushes, process them and coat them with silicones. They're shiny when they're new, then once the coating comes off they look rough and tangle because the cuticles are NOT facing the same direction.

If it's the more expensive kind, where it was a woman who grew her hair down to her butt and then they cut it (Remy), that'll last way longer.

So in my case if I can't afford Remy (which is at this stage in my life) I just buy synthetic coz it lasts me much longer. I do the same with braids too; Kanekalon looks better on me after 2 months than un-Remy hair.

I started out wearing synthetics but switched to human because I was wearing them out too fast. The synthetics are good for a night out on the town because of the more variety of styles, but for longivity I will go for a human one. I only wear human half wigs at the moment.

synthetic cause most of the bs human wigs are made from poor quality hair thinking about letting my stylist make me 2 from halleys hair: one straight and the other curly or wavy.

I have all kinds. HH LF too much dang work, synthetic wigs I love. HH regular wigs act the same as synthetic with me.

I prefer synthetics because they can be tossed when they become unmanageable. The cost is usually $25.00 or less so I do not mind tossing them away. I have a few human hair wigs which I rarely wore; I feel uncomfortable wearing them, always conscious of them on my head-a bit spooky to wear them.

I sometimes wear a human half wig love the versatility of being able to curl it color it whatever style it how I want. With a synthetic one u just have to have the same look everytime you wear it because u can't do anything to it or it will be damaged. If you're looking for something to just throw on every now and then then synthetic is cool but if you want to wear it a lot and change it up a bit often then go with human.

Im sporting Freetress Bali Girl right now and its synthetic and I know its days are numbered but I love it ( cost :27 color 1b)!!!!! but I do want to find a human hair wig so i can curl, braid out and do whatever I like to have more versatility to wear...but its kind of hard finding one in the BSS caus eI wanna try it on before I buy it...Oh well going wig shopping Saturday for either human or synthetic!! Oh and I plan on sewing in a black silk liner!! I wanna keep my edges and keep my hair moist!!!

I usually buy Synthetic because they are quick and easy. I just bought one for $24 to wear to the club tonight.
