The Aveda Naturally Straight makes straightening easier and keeps my hair straight. Hasnt been humid yet but still. It's absolutely thee best hair product I have ever used!
It doesn't give a sticky coated nasty feel as the cysteine treatment I used a while back did.

It also is beneficial with air drying. It does some kind of magic to my hair.
Seriously, this stuff is amazing!!!
Thanks to everyone who rec'd it!!!

I used it on soaking wet hair btw.

My hair NEVER behaves this way. wth kind of voodoo is in this Aveda stuff???
How is my hair staying this straight??!
Is there some form of formaldahyde in this product? I'm assuming its some sort of keratin treatment? Did you use heat to activate it; or just a rollerset. I'm very curious.

i suspected formaldehyde too but nope
I used a flat iron this time but even with ZERO heat my hair was behaving very differently. with zero heat it makes my hair hang better, seems to help hold the curl pattern, and my hair dries flatter.
Its an absolute miracle so far for my hair. i promise i dont work for aveda

From the Aveda site:

progressively straightens curls with every use

  • As you blow-dry your hair, plant-derived fibers help create a locking layer to help hold your hair straight, day after day*
  • Organic cassava root helps form a barrier against intense humidity to help you forget about frizz
  • Straight styling becomes faster and easier

*After 5 consecutive applications of naturally straight, hair will stay straight for up to 3 washes.

I'm glad it's working for you. My DD's last flat iron didn't hold so I guess it's time for me to switch back over to the Naturally Straight. I was hoping to use up some other stuff to get rid of it, but nothing has beat NS in this type of humidity, so hopefully I'll use up that other stuff in the fall.

My mom tried the Aveda naturally straight. She was trying to transition from a relaxer but be a flat ironed natural. She was NOT having it. Her hair looked a hot mess. I suspect a 3c or 4a will not have the same effects. Could be wrong but that's my mom's hair type and it didn't work. I will say though that she has hot flashes (age) so she sweats a lot so maybe she's sweating out the product. At any rate if you are in a humid area or sweat a lot take head those with tighter curls because this product may not work for you.

On a lighter note the aveda smooth infusion straight product line works super well. When I straighten my hair it works wonders and I'm a 4a mostly (some 3c). I wanted to get my mom to try but she was like "OOOOH NO!" because she had a sour taste in her mouth from Aveda after the naturally straight. The Aveda smooth infusion line works but I think they may discontinue it (cry) to replace it with naturally straight. It works so much better to me and keeps hair shiny and straight longer: http://www.amazon.com/Aveda-SMOOTH-...qid=1431125505&sr=8-2&keywords=aveda+straight

I had all but given up on products. I just knew there was no miracle product out there but the Aveda Naturally Straight has changed my mind. It is a miracle lol. It lays my hair as nothing else can , doesn't even need to be used with heat. My unstraightened hair lovvvves it.
I hope it keeps working for me. Till the Aveda there has never been a product as effective as this on my hair. My hair has purchased a ring and is ready to propose marriage to the Aveda NS.
I believed my hair hated product and it does tend to but its still worth trying new things because I see that products that agree with my hair do exist . I just have to not give up.
Next I will try the masque...

Thanks so much @Dayjoy and @Dove56 for recommending it :D

my hair is flat ironed again and the silkiness and straightness is unbelievable for me. idk that my hair has every in my life been so silky and i thought it was hella silky at times in the past . its sooo smooth and not coated or weighed down. Looks clean as a whistle yet soo calm and shiny and smooth. what the heck is in this Aveda stuff that makes it work?? the ingreds dont look so unusual
i just hope is isnt damaging.

I'm going to guess its properly sealing my cuticles and correcting ph, while also causing some kind of stretch reaction. But how is it achieving this?

Where do you buy this Aveda stuff? I might need to look into it for my mom who is 3c/4a transitioning. I wonder if it works for rollersets cuz that's all she gets.

You can get it at Aveda stores (several malls in my area have them and there's one downtown) or an Aveda concept salon.

I forgot to report back. I've been using the Carols Daughter Cupuacu Anti Frizz collection and it works perfectly for this humid Florida weather. I have absolutely no frizz or reversion. I press monthly with the GVP flat iron and maintain that press for 4 weeks with no addtl direct heat. I've been using my Caruso steam rollers to maintain the press and add body and curls. They work perfectly.

My mother swears my Aveda Naturally Straight, she's 4 a and natural. I love Naturally Straight for rollersets. I got a really smooth pretty set with the product.

It's not damaging at all and it hasn't altered my curl pattern one bit. @Nazaneen if you think Naturally Straight is voodoo wait until you try the mask, it's pure witchcraft lol. Go get a sample of it! It's heavy so you have to find the right amount for your hair. Together they are amazing.

Carl's Daughter and Aveda (the mask) both use that Cupuacu butter to prevent frizz and reversion.

I gave up. I got box braids for the summer. I'll go to the salon for straightening.
Yeah, I also gave up...Actually I never tried. But if I do, it will be this Aveda Naturally Straight product. Instead, I wore my hair in dreadlocks all summer. Yes, my real hair (no extensions) has been dreaded up since May. My hair is just that kinky. I just took them down last week.

I tried the Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight and it left my hair coated and dull looking. I washed my hair that same night. I don't know what I did wrong. Maybe I'll try it again since I paid all that money and it's just sitting in the cabinet.

This is the product, right??

How do you do that? I'm confused.
