I have a very BAD dry scalp sometimes I feel like I have it under control but there are times where i see alot of little flakes appearing on my scalp and my scalp gets really itchy. Can anyone recommend a Shampoo or a remedy for this?

Product wise, Neutrogena T-Sal shampoo worked well. Silk Elements PreCleanse treatment was ok too.

My scalp must be clean and buildup free if I want to avoid irritation and inflammation. So, shampooing more frequently (1-2x a week) was more beneficial than products alone.

I need to know if you have food allergies and what your diet is like? Please don't just say you eat healthy. I need a rundown of a typical day with what you would eat for meals and snacks. You could possibly have candida overgrowth. It can manifest in more places than just your vagina. Also how often do you wash your hair?

How often are you washing? Diet? Water intake? Have you changed hair products recently?
I wash and always have at least once a wk. From the time I had dandruff til now my products and diet have changed substantially. I use to use mineral oil laden low quality products. Now I use all natural mostly moisturizing products. I take a daily multi, biotin, and magnesium. I drink around a gallon of water a day. Very minimal sugary drinks. Mostly veggies, lean meat, minimal whole grains and one to two pieces of fruit a day.

I know it was the cream that worked for me though. It was def after using that when I noticed the flaking and itching disappear. I'm guessing like you said in your previous post it was a fungal or yeast overgrowth which was taken care of by the cream.

I truly believe dandruff is just a symptom of something more.

You may have candida overgrowth. That is what monistat is for. Get you some par d'arco tea and drink it regularly. Do you take a probiotic? If so what brand? I can give you a quality list asmuch of what is on the market is crap. I think you should tweak your diet a bit more. No hybridized wheat or corn. Try to do gluten free or wheat free grains. Millet, quinoa, amaranth, spelt, kamut, einkorn, teff, and wild rice but in small amounts. Also get some dairy-free lacto-fermented foods in your system. Inbox me and I'll give you a free 20min consultation. I completed my certificate in plant based nutrition from Cornell University this past September.

Wow super interesting. I never thought about candida overgrowth. I do not take probiotics. What would you suggest I take? So I guess no more oatmeal? Is cottage cheese okay?

You need to to nix dairy as much as possible. Dairy is acidic, mucus-forming and not the best source of calcium. I am veggie and my bone density is fine. I am in my 40s. Oats don't contain gluten but can be cross contaminated with it. A green smoothie would make for a better breakfast. You make make quinoa, millet, buckwheat or amaranth as a hot cereal as well.

oh ok..I'm def going to try that. I love quinoa. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to tweak my diet this week and see how I feel. I know candida can make you tired all the time and I have that big time.

Not sure if you have found a solution. But I have experienced the same issue. I tried so many shampoos- dandruff shampoo, moisturizing shampoos, sulfate free poos. The probably did not go away until I revisited shampoo bars. I use it once, maybe twice a week. Purchased from chagrinvally.com. I use the ayurvedic one. It has really cleared up my dry flaky scalp. And I had this problem ALL year long, not just winter.

I have started using JBCO for hair growth and noticed that my scaly scalp is 90% improved after years of battling dandruff!! Apparently it has antifungal/antibacterial properties..

Grab a plastic applicator bottle & apply it to your scalp...massage scalp with finger tips/pads (not nails) and leave in over night, then wash! I was pleasantly surprised by my clear scalp.

I co sign on the chagrin valley shampoo bars. They're awesome. I didn't know that they helped for dandruff but they are gentle but thoroughly clean. They lather like a dream and I also love that I can use them as often as I want (everyday even) and don't have to worry about it drying out my hair. They have different types for any scalp or hair condition you could possibly have.

If you want to try them I recommend the herd garden, ayurvedic, or neem and tea tree.

You can try Nizoral shampoo. I've been using it for a while and have seen some improvement in my scalp buildup. Also Silk Elements Pre Cleanse. Order a shampoo comb too, one with tiny teeth.
I use one almost every wash now and don't feel clean if I don't.

for some reason my link to the combs on amazon is going in as media and not showing up :scratchchin:
anyway here's a pic
