Oops! I probably should not have responded now that I'm au naturale! Ha!I answered free because my hairdresser did not charge me for touch-ups when I got laid off.... When I was working and I did pay, they were $70. She works in a shop.

I think cost of living in a particular area may affect the charges of such services. I live in the midwest, which I expect would be cheaper than living on either coast, or even Chicago....

With my old hair dresser, I used to pay $100, which included touch-up, trim and deep conditioning. Didn't mind paying either, because she never overlapped the perm, trimmed what I needed, and my hair always came out bangin'. Always received compliments on my hair. Unfortunately she moved, so I pay less for other stylists, but they still haven't come close to what she did.:(

I have medium length hair and I am charged $110.00 for touch up/ rinse and trim. What about you. I get touch ups every 6 weeks too. My goal is start stretching time between touchups.

This how much I pay, but $110 also includes the 20% tip! :)

There is no way Im payin over $100 for a touchup.
I wait every 3 months to go back home to NYC and visit my family and while Im there I get my touchup for $40. Includes wash, trim, deep conditon.
I may start going to a place down here, they charge $65.

FOr my initial relaxer. it was $85 ( affirm) from here on out it is $60. And I think that is too much. but I guess not looking at you guys prices.

You could be on to something here. My family is found South Carolina, and I remeber once getting a touch-up for around $45. I live in Boston, and paying $65 and up just for a wash and set is pretty normal. Retouches are usually $85 and up. However, there are less expensive places always to be found....

But, the property taxes and rents are so high in the city, stylists have to charge quite a bit just to keep up, so I don't mind paying for services. I hate to see good business go under just becase the State refuses to give us breaks! Maybe our new Governor Elect can do something about this!!!! ;)

I pay 85 for the relaxer and 15 in tips to my stylist and his assistant. They both do an awesome job and my hair has never been better since I've been using him so I totally think it's worth it.

I pay $70 for a relaxer (She uses mizani and design essentials) in NYC which always includes deep conditioning and trim. She relaxes up to 85% and Ive never had any burns. No matter what service you get, she always deep conditions you hair. If you add the tip it comes up to about $90. I dont mind the price since she uses quality products and focuses on the health of your hair instead of the style. Ive seen stylist use inferior products and charge the same price.

WOW..$100 and up!! I have never paid anymore than $50 for a relaxer, which included a deep condition and set and blow out at the dominicans or with a nice style at the AA salons. I know when I lived down south, I found a good lady who never charged me more than 50 for any style which also included relaxers (she worked at a shop). Still friends with her till this day, like an aunt to me!!

Anyway, My advice like many others, shop around. Even if you have to travel far or learn how to self relax, because thats just crazy. Now if you are at an upscale salon, you are paying for rent and booth, because no matter where you are, there should be a cap at $70 for any relaxer which should at least include some type of conditioner and style with the price. Hope you find something affordable and most importantly takes care of your hair and knows what they are doing, because upscale (high price) doesnt always mean better.

The most I've ever paid was $65 at a high price salon and no trim was included. I usually paid around $50-60 and that included treatment and a trim. I remember one time I called a place in PG County when I was in school though and they had the nerve to quote $70 and if I wanted Affirm or Mizani it was $80.

That's what I'm sayin....
guess NYC'ers should consider themselves lucky judging by the prices being mentioned in this thread...

I've never payed more than $35, everything included. Guess we are lucky here...it's because competition is so fierce here with a salon every other block or so!

I pay $45 for a touch up but I usually give a $5 tip. (She won't take more than that!) But that's with my college student discount... I'll have to pay $55 once I graduate. :(

I didn't vote cuz my price isn't on there. I only pay $40 for a touch up and she doesn't charge extra for a trim.

I hear ya ! My other stylist charged 60 bucks for a perm and a extra 10 for a trim. My fam back home do hair, so i know they only pay 25-30.00 for an entire BUCKET of Affirm relaxer...and that's a professional relaxer. These stylists making out like FAT CATS !

So now, i go to walmart for my affirm relaxer for the relaxer only...35.00. I go home and condition, roller set. ;) On lady told me 90 bucks...i thought, i hope she gets a goooood look at me walkin out cause she will never see me again. mama didnt raise no fool

I payed 100CAN (March 06, I am transitioning now) to relax my virgin hair. The price included deep cond. and trim.

I don't remember how much the actual relaxer was but with tip and cutting(yes my hair always got cut after every relaxer) it was always between 80-100$.
Thank god I'am doing my hair myself now,I can't afford that every 6 weeks

Preach, sista! I know thats right. She must have been smoking some rocks to think she was gonna get $90.

WOW! I've never paid more than $55.00-$60.00!! If I had to pay that much I would definitely be a stretcher.:)

I used to pay about $75 for a touch up and blow dry, but now I do it myself and pay like $6.00 for the box, and that's all I will ever pay, I do a better job, and I don't have to worry about someone trying to clip my ends!!!!!!!!!

When I used to live in New Orleans, a relaxer, deep conditioner and trim was 40 dollars (35 if my hair was short). One time I went to an upscale one and they charged me 60 dollars I believe. I thought that was crazy!

In AZ, I only got my hair done professionally once, and it was $75 with a discount!

Now my relaxers, deep condition is 7.99, lol  thanks doing it at home! So happy that I self-relax.

$60 for a touchup, includes touch up, wash, condition, trim, rollerset, blowout and style.

If i had to pay $110 I would self relax or stretch, baby stretch!

When I went to a salon in the hood it was $55. Then when I went an upscale salon it was $90-95 (that includes wash, style, trim). I do my own now.

When my hair was permed, I paid from $50 - $75 for a touch-up depending on the stylist. This did not include the styling. Then again I live in the DC area.

well when i went to the salon it was 50 for a touch up and trim. but that was 2-3 years ago. i'm from ohio.
