Does anyone use indigo to color hair?

I have been searching through all the threads about henna, and I have decided to go for it. I want to dye my hair black, and I see that indigo is a safe and natural way to do so? Has anyone ever used indigo on their hair? What was your recipie and how did it turn out?

Check in Sareca's album... She has a FAQ about Henna/Indigo

First full-indigo attempt--->http://public.fotki.com/Serica/hair-to-stay/hair_to_stay/2006/august_2006/indigod/

Here's stuff I've collected from posts here.
Here's Catherine's henna e-book (the indigo stuff starts on page 28) Notice how bluish-green the indigo looks when it's used w/o doing a henna treatment first. Don't worry (unless you have more than 10% gray). It will have a slight bluish-green cast for the first 24 hours as the indigo oxidizes. After that it's blue-black, but Catherine says it's not as silky.

Sareca, does the Indigo fade out from the Boundless Tresses or from your deep conditioners? Thank you, bonjour

My hair remains dark long after I indigo, but it only has that super-shiny blue-black for about 30 days. I started using indigo around this time last year. I just started BT so it's not BT, but it might be something else I'm using.

I love Indigo...it looks natural and lasts soooo long. Jazzing cannot compare. My MTG quick pre-poo sometimes strips out the front edges but I don't mind too much; I rarely add MTG anymore.

If I keep the Indigo in my hair longer will it come out darker? Right now I leave it in for 3 hrs after having Henna in overnight. Just wondering if I should leave the Indigo on longer.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if it will get darker. I usually only leave mine on for 45 minutes or so. I don't think it will hurt your hair to try.

How long does it usually last? I wouldn't mind trying it but don't want to lose my homemade highlights, lol

I have been getting EXCELLENT results with the double process of henna then Indigo. I am doubly impressed because I no longer have to result to chemicals of any kind. bonjour.
