Flexi Rod DIYers...How Do You Part the Hair?

experienced flexi rod DIYers or ppl who have just had great outcomes...how do you part the hair for this type of set?

I part down the middle and from ear to ear, securing each section. And then starting at the back. Take one of the sections and split that. You can kinda see it here:

parting that section into smaller sections, maybe parting into about 4-6 section at the back and more at the front.

then starting at the back and working forward
