how do i take care of permanent color treated hair

hello everyone. ive just gotten my hair done with permanent color. i luv it by the way!

In between shop appointments how do you take care of your color. I know for one excessive heat use isnt good.
Are there any other things I should be aware of such as conditioning/shampoo'n.... etc.?

Strengthening Conditioners - (Light protein, or even Nuetral Henna )
Moisturizing Conditioners - Chemically treated hair needs more moisture! Suave with EVOO will work fine inbetween salon visits.

Innocent Kiss is right: moisture is key! Buy the right poo and conditioner, one that caters to dry/damaged and/or colored hair. Also, keep your washing to a minimum so that your color won't fade prematurely. Once a wk should suffice.

Umm... that's all I can think of, but just treat your hair like silk and get good products. Also, good does not necessarily mean expensive!
