Jojoba Oil

Healthy Hair Quest..
Hey ladies....

I've been using the Queen Helene Jojoba Hot Oil Treatment. I was reading the ingredients and the Jojoba is like 4th on the list.

I suspect there is a pure Jojoba out there somewhere to buy. I believe I saw it in someone's photo album. Where can I purchase it? Is it considered to be an Essential Oil?

Thanks!

Hi OnePraying

Your hair looks so pretty in your avatar. I buy 100% pure organic jojoba oil from http://http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkoil/d-l.php. It is the best price I've seen for pure organic jojoba oil anywhere, e.g., 16 oz for $21. HTH!

Thanks KAD-

When you say "carrier oil" does that mean it is a base?

The link many talks about its effects on skin. Do you know what benefits affords our hair?

I usally order it from http://www.cedarvale.net/ (this site is down right now for repairs). Pure Jojoba is absolutly wonderful. If you put it on dry hair, wrap or roll your hair before bed then tie it up. The hair comes out so smooth and soft, not greasy or heavy. I can't live without it!

Yes I do mean it is a base.

Here's some info on hair benefits:

For healthier, cleaner scalp and hair, add a drop or two to your shampoo. To moisturize and revitalize hair and scalp, massage a few drops directly onto the scalp after shampooing. Excellent as a hot oil treatment for hair and scalp. Conditions, nourishes, and protects damaged hair. Relieves itchy, dry, flaky scalp. Promotes a healthier more beautiful head of hair.

Jojoba oil has been used to promote hair growth and relieve skin problems for centuries. It is effective in treating dandruff, dry, and chapped skin. It is also very good for Sensitive skin types

Jojoba is not actually an oil but is a liquid wax. Jojoba offers the traits of both to make it a great ingredient in soaps, creams, lotions, balms and massage oils. It is highly penetrating and closely resembles our natural sebum. Use it in facial blends to remove excess oils and to help balance the natural skin oils. Jojoba contains a natural anti-inflammatory called “myristic acid” and is therefore, is a good oil for arthritis and rheumatism. It has natural anti-oxidant properties and is said to help extend the shelf life of other oils. In cold process soap making, it is very good to use as a superfatting agent since it resists rancidity. Jojoba is a great base for essential oil blends and perfume oils. It also makes an excellent hair conditioner.

A little more info:

Extremely damaged hair or hair that tends to break, split or tangle will often respond very well to jojoba oil. Jojoba is a very healing and moisturizing oil for the hair.

The reason that jojoba is such a great choice as a hair conditioner and moisturizer is that the molecular structure of jojoba is very similar to the natural oil that is produced by the sebaceous glands in the scalp. This natural scalp oil is known as "sebum".

It is a well known fact that sebum is required for proper moisturization of beautiful and healthy hair. Hair that has a good moisture basis tends to be more resistant to daily damage, tangles, dryness and split ends.

Jojoba oil comes from the jojoba plant which grows spontaneously in the northwestern parts of Mexico, as well as Arizona and California.

The jojoba plant is so strong that it actually bears its berries in the intense heat and dryness of desert. Jojoba oil is the transparent, resilient and golden oil, and is often called the liquid gold of the desert.
