He has three daughters from his first marriage, who are probably looking at his second wife, thinking, “This is your problem.” His first wife became a feminist scholar after their divorce, and the daughters don’t seem to share his politics at all… wouldn’t be surprising if there is some degree of estrangement, as they have not been part of his public life the entire 30 years that he has been married to Elaine Chao, who has been in and out of Republican administrations and politics - while being involved with numerous large corporations - since the Reagan era. So his wife is probably too busy continuing to amass her fortune to deal with him. There seems to be some criticism of her with regard to his health issues though.
