One year post second big chop - My 4c hair Update

Finally I can smile again! Okay, Im being a tad dramatic:lol:

But seriously this past year of being natural again was not as smooth sailing as I would have liked, I had problems with dryness and high porosity which I thankfully seem to have sorted out.

I big chopped in July last year because I had heat damage from trying to "heat train" my hair. Fail. Those ends had to go, so I cut down to about 2-3 inches live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0XPmF6WeTQ

A year later, my hair looks like this

Its unstretched and uncombed but if you want to see how long its gotten, I do a proper length check on my hair channel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtXfoxkjBbs

Just thought I'd share my update with you guys since I've been mostly lurking reading tips and counting down till I can have my komaza hair analysis done. The link is NEVER available

Thanks for reading! :drunk: Oh my hair is definitely a 4c, so please could you suggest similar haired naturals for me to check out on youtube, I cant seem to find that many!

Hey congrats on your big chop and lovely growth. Continue on your healthy hair journey
Here are a few 4c hair gurus I follow. If you want to find more go to blackgirllonghair and check out the hair style icons. They give you a profile of their journey and usually links to their instagram, YouTube and/or blog. You can also search by various hair types.

geraldinethegreat has a great hair blog, but only one YouTube video.

Thank you very much weavediva , havilland , KPH and Mocha126 !

Mocha, Thanks for suggesting cherry818 and xoDVF, they are both new to me. xoDVF's hair is my goal! *drools*

My regimen is still a work in progress since I only recently found out my hair is high porosity.

I tend to avoid shampoo, I only shampoo once a month when my hair is out of braids.
I deep condition twice a week with Giovanni's protein restructuring conditioner followed by smooth as silk.
I use an aloe, glycrine and rosewater mix as a leave in, then a blend of shea butter and wheatgerm oil to seal (or any other oil I have about) :)

My aren't you lovely; and lovely hair too. It looks so moist in your length check video. I'm curious to know your reggie? Thanks. Oh yeah, the Komaza Analysis is awesome. You'll love it. Mocha126 those are some good picks. Also check out Inspiired she posted some inspirational 4b/c threads recently: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=622227 hopefully she starts a youtube page :yep:

Thank you virtuenow , funny because it was your komaza hair report that prompted me to consider that I might have high porosity and to try to get the komaza analysis done. :yep: I'll check out inspired posts! Thank you. How is your hair doing now?

Oh and I posted my new regimen just above this post. My hair seems to be acting right since I started using Giovanni, I'll be posting a review soon :)

Ha, thanks. Things are going very well. I'm glad I can encourage. I'm always on the constant lookout for inspiration and to learn more as I grow. You can never know too much. I plan to do an update in the next couple of weeks or so for my 1yr anniversary since my 1st Komaza analysis (and the restart of my HHJ).

Looking forward to your update! I hope you didn't have to big chop again? :-/

Thank you! My braids I usually leave in for ages! Last time in was 4 months, last year it was five months. Ive very good with my braids so always get a lot of growth with them. I haven't worn a weave in ages, the one I have in my vids is a wig I made :)
