Protective styles for short hair

I wanna try the daily rinse thing and since I'll have to be wearing my hair in protective styles, I need advice. I have short hair (In back, it's to the back of neck or longer and in the very front, chin length, the rest is about chin) Is there any way to wear a bun or other protective style with hair being so short?

If you can gather the hair into a ponytail, you can do Adrienne's method and use the drawstring pony. Cornrows and flat twists are good too.

I don't have short, short hair, but it's not long either. Anyway, I bought a little bun from the beauty supply store for like $6.00. If you pull your hair back into a little pony tail, just clip it on there and secure it with a few bobby pins. HTH
