jet black hair and light skin

I'm light and have had jet black/oriental black hair for about 4 years. I'm letting the color grow out now, though. I like it. I will probably color it again in a little while.

I think jet black hair usually looks lovely on *just about* anyone from a woman with deep ebony skin, to an Asian person with 'light-yellow' skin, to a naturally blond white woman like Niki Hilton. I think the only people it sometimes looks harsh on are those with extremely pale skin.

Beyonce has a lovely bronzed look to her skin and I think jet black hair would look very beautiful and natural on someone with her coloring. :yep:

My coloring is similar to Faith Evans/Jasmine Guy and I used a jet black Bigen color once several years ago and thought it looked very nice. I received lots of compliments on it. It came out very shiny, too, and that was important to me. I know I wouldn't have liked it if the color had been flat and had not reflected light well.

I will admit that the first time I saw a photo of myself with the color I was a little taken aback because it was quite dramatic. But it was nice. I never used a black color again, though, but maybe I will someday. :)

I have a lighter skin color and did jet black 2 winters ago. I even tanned a little prior to dyeing it b/c in the winter I can look somewhat washed out. A lot of people really liked it, some didn't (my mom HATED it). It can be a dramatic change, especially if you are going from a lighter brown shade to black. But, I personally like the look and will probably dye my hair dark again sometime. I agree with Renee when she said she doesn't think it looks good on those who are really pale. Good luck!

I am caramel and i have black hair and I think it looks good. My sister is really light, almost pale and she went jet black. I think the color adds something and also it hides damaged hair. i wouldn't get jet black though, cuz its hard coming back up to a lighter color. i would go with deepest or darkest natural brown, thats what i got and it looks black.

Bey's color? Nah, not at all. I think black would look too over powering.. but lighter like Jasmine Guy oorrr someone with a more 'yellow' hue would look great. I love that look.

Not sure if I'm light (depends on the season) but I've done this before and I like the look. You might want to consider your eyebrow situation if your eyebrows are brown because I ended up having to use power on them to get them to match my super blue-black hair.

I'm in love with black too. Just the right shade of BLUE BLACK, glossy, with layers, That's the bomb! I just hate when the gray starts growing out!!

I am lighter than Beyonce and have naturally jet black hair. I hated it when I was younger but now I think that it gives me a bold look. Very few people have hair naturally that dark.

I love jet black hair on most people and blue black, even more! I've dyed my hair those shades in the past. BTW, a couple of old Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam videos were just on and I see that I have a similar skin tone as she (Lisa Lisa).

I am light and have jet black hair. I think it is a beautiful contrast. Most all light bermudian women color their hair jet black, it has sort if been the it thing for then past 10 years.

Yeah, I love the look of black hair. I am light caramel with olive undertones. I dyed my hair black a couple of years ago before I really knew how to take care of it. It started off pretty. But if you don't keep it shiny and healthy looking, it looks old and ragged. When a cooworker saw it one day she was like "it don't look THAT bad!"...that let me know folks were talking about it  . So now that I have learned how to take care of my hair form LHCF, I think I will give it ago again...after my lighter brown color grows out that I am getting next year :D .

I'm about Beyonce's color, and I had black hair most of my life. Some people loved it, some thought I should warm up my color some.

I decided to go with something different, so I colored my hair with Textures and Tones in Bronze, my bf LOVES it, and I get alot of compliments on how pretty it makes my skin look. I'll post pics when I get a digital camera

Well, I have that look naturally and I like it.
But... we always think the grass is greener on the other side because 3 yrs. ago I dyed my naturally jet black hair blonde and it took 2 yrs. to grow out. :( But, live and learn! I like the look, go for it. :)

I like this look. My god sis is around beyonce's skintone and she looked better to me with jet black hair than she did with the brown and the blonde highlights.

My mom was the same way. My hair looked great but she said that it did not work that well with my undertones. I have reddish/gold/orangey undertones. My sister on the other hand has golden/yellow undertones and her natural haircolor is jet black, which looks great on her.
