Afraid to continue with my Big Chop...

Okay everyone, So I have been secrectly planning to do the BC. I love relaxed hair but I just came to the conclusion that my hair is just too damaged to waste good products on trying to repair.
I just feel like my damaged relaxed hair is holding me back. So I've decided that regardless of if I go natural or stay relaxed I need a fresh start!

My plan was to braid it up until June or July and then do the big chop.

Ladies I had it all put together. I was going to rock my twa so hard that everyone was going to swear I just stepped off the runway! I was going to be feirce yall!! I was super excited! I just couldnt wait!

Out of nowhere something came over me lastnight I dont know what the heck it was, but I grabbed the scissors and chopped off a big section of my hair in the back.

And now I'm scared!!! I know I have to finish...there is no turning back. But I just cant. I punked out yall and now I dont know what to do.

I'm too afraid to continue. I cant even imagine how it will look on me anymore.

My biggest fear is that I will look just like my brother! people always say we look just alike.. I'm afraid that if I cut my hair People will think I'm him or something!!! Thats scary!!! LORD HELP ME!!

I want to get rid of this damaged hair. I want to experience my natural texture. But I dont want to look crazy! I'm so afraid that I will look like a boyl

Please what should i do? I have to return ot work on Friday so I have very little time...

I know I have very few options but any advice will be greatly appreciated..

what is my texure?

I would suggest that you go with your original plan and just braid it out until June/July.
When that time comes, you can decide what you want to do. Eventually, you have to even your hair out whether you relax or go natural.
You can always braid it up until you get to a length that you're comfortable with.
BC'ing is not for the faint of heart.

heres what you do.

1. get in your car
2. drive to the nearest college campus
3. buy some weed.
4. smoke it
5. relax
6. finish cutting hair
7. style to your liking
8. profit!

I am kidding about the weed, but Im serious about the relaxing part. You are very pretty there is no way you will look like a boy. You will be just fine bb.

ETA: you dont have to finish cutting it, you could just braid it up like the poster above me suggested. But I think that you should finish what you started.... just calm down itll be fine....

deep breaths.... wooosah

Since you didn't finish, you likely have some length left to work with, so get it braided before Friday. It may cost you a good bit of money to find someone to do it so quickly, but that's about the only option that will work for you in my opinion. If not, just get it cornrowed and rock a wig or something. That's all I can come up with so short notice.

Thank you. I dont know why I was so anxious. Braiding is probably what i need to do.. but part of me wants to finish. I'm still kind of curious to know how I will look. but I know that if i do so there is definately no turning back. I hope it all works out for me. I really do.

It seems that you are not ready for the change yet and that you need more time to think things over.

So, I suggest that you 'wig it' until the weekend and take it from there. If you decide to chop and don't like it you can wear wigs until your hair grows out.

Finally, I promise you that you will not look like your brother if you cut your hair. :yep: A little bit a lipgloss, your prettiest earrings and a bangin' outfit is all you will need to complete your transformation whether you are natural or not  Good luck, Teysmith.:bighug:

Thank you and yes i did I cut it all the way off so I could see my texture. I want to see it so badly. I dont know what to do. i might have no choice but to get it braided.

How about cutting it and then buying a wig if you don't like it?

This is something that I'm thinking about. but I'm not sure. I will have to get a good wig. I dont want it to be too obvious that I'm wearing one. but I dont have a lot of money either.

:spank::spank: bad Amber Moon.....:lachen:!

I would advise to go with your first plan to braid it up til June. Or you can continue to chop then get it braided if you feel as though you can't handle the TWA. The best of both worlds.

You should check out the wig threads. I don't know anything about weaves and how to pick ones that look natural but there are a few threads here we ladies are showing off regular BSS that put some $$$$ celebrity lace fronts to shame.

You should also check out Ateyaa (sp) on youtube. She can really work out a wig.

HAHAHAHA. You are so silly. I might go and check out some wigs tommorrow. or maybe some braiding shops idk. If i do get a wig I will finish cutting it..

And thanks for the compliments.

Tey,
Just so you know, my original plan was to BC in the summertime also after half wigging it up until then.
One day I woke up and decided to cut my hair. I cut until I had no choice but to finish. Afterwards, I cowashed and went to the BS and brought two wigs. LOL

I love my natural hair but I didn't want short natural hair. I also didn't feel like dealing with two textures any longer. The wigs allowed me to cowash often and twist my hair up and go. I now have a sew in and I love it. I am keeping this up until my original planned BC date and then I will work with what I have.

I am not normally a wig/weave person but I knew doing the BC would force me to become one. LOL
I also get to experiment on my fully natural hair on the weekends. I get to see what products my hair likes and how certain styles hold up. I am using this time as my learning curve.

HTH

With your beautiful bone structure, your TWA will be fierce!

It took me a while to BC, myself. Like you, one day I got so bold (out of my frustrations and excitement to be natural) that I cut a big chunk off of one side of my head...then I quickly realized what I'd done and got nervous. It was so significant that there was no turning back so I finished cutting.:nono:

I didn't even bother to straighten my hair out to see how much I cut, because I was scared. So I wore my hair in wash n' go styles and buns for a couple of months (I was already apart of the hide your hair challenge so it was easy to hide my hair...even from myself). All in all, it worked out. I think it was the best decision for me.

I think whatever you decide to do (finish your cut, wear your hair in braids or whatever) you will look fab. Just think of the end results...healthy beautiful hair...:yep:

Tey, I'm fighting the urge to BC myself (youtube is NOT helping). Since you started, just finish...you are gonna look beautiful:yep:. I'm telling you, the only thing keeping me from grabbing some shears is the fact that I'm a proud owner of a fivehead:look:.

PICS ADDED!! The first one is just showing my hair before the chop. as u can see it didnt look so great. The last one shows my texure in the front. What texure do you all think I am?

I know I made a thread on what texure I was before but now that there is no relaxed hair covering it, You can see better.

hahaha. girl I think youtube is what did it to me. I was watching a lot of youtube vids on big chops... lol @ five head. your silly.

TEY! I was reading your post and thought you were in my head or something!!! I had a very similar plan : braid it up until June, BC, rock it fiercely

Then Monday I called up my cousin asking her to please help me cut it all off this week end, if I dont like it we'll do senegalese twists

Yesterday I chopped off huge parts at the back and near my crown and a little bit on the left side................:lachen:

I have calmed myself down tho lol .. will BC this saturday and get some braids..do the same!

I just wanted to say that you do not and would not look like a man, no matter how hard you tried. With that said, good luck with whatever decision you make, you'll still be cute, hair or no hair.

LOL Thank you. :) How long is your new growth?

First of all you would definitely NOT look like a boy........at all. Get the right products to get them coils shinin and moisturized do some cute makeup with some nice earrings and a cute outfit and people will be askin you when you flew in from New York:cool2:

I know what its like to feel like:ohwell: about a hair decision.....I'm always like that about things I do to my hair.....go with what feels right.....I feel like since you already started cutting may as well follow through and just chop all the way....if you're not comfortable with it yet do a cute braid style or wig it.....but give yourself time to adjust to it and you may find yourself in love!:yep:

Oh, and your hair type is type 4a just like me!;)

I totally agree with this post.:yep:

Hey congrats on your half chop!

I'm with BMP, finish the BC and put some product in to get the curls to pop. Will it bother you to get your hair braided knowing it's uneven? Why not BC and braid it up?

You will not look like a boy! buy some headbands and rock some cute earrings. As for hairtype I'd say 4a. Hang in there!
