See, her hair is pretty!

I like Ateyaa and think she has a really cute personality :yep:

I've always been confused by her growth though. Even with that minor setback a while back....considering all the protective styling she does...shouldn't her hair be longer?

Although considering how much heat she uses I suppose her growth is good. Recently I watched a video where she blowdried her hair, flatironed it (with like 3 passes per strand) and then pulled out a curling iron :thud:

i have never seen that much direct heat in one sitting...in my life! the fact that she has such great swang :gorgeous: in spite of all that is a testament to something....(good genes, good deep conditioning...or mayhaps a combination of the two)

She only washes her hair 2 times a month and she uses heat on her wash days. I don't think that's bad at all. There are people on this forum that do the same thing and have seen progress just like Aateya.

Her set back was pretty major imo. She had ALOT of breakage. The back of her hair looked like a 'W' because of the breakage. She also trims her hair so that's why her growth may not be as much as one would expect. Nonetheless, protective styling and stretching her relaxer appears to have been beneficial to her hair. If you look at her last weave take down video her hair was knockin on APL.

Her hair looks nice. Maybe she's a part of the slow growers club. I've been natural 4 yrs and finally knocking on APL door. So frustrating

I get all that....but i think it may just be a growth rate thing. she and i started off at about the same spot (post setback) and now ....not so much.

to each their own. maybe my growth rate is faster than i realized or hers is just slower. it happens. *kanyeshrug*

I like her hair. I think it's the trimming that makes it seem less long. Actually, I prefer nice smooth even ends over long hair that is all jagged. I'm trimming soon b/c tho I reached wl, I don't like the uneven ends.

Just copying and pasting a comment someone left from this vid:

MISS ATEYAA- THE ONLY BLACK WOMAN with the strongest POWER MOVES and VIEWS on youtube and THIS IS WHY FAT UGLY ASHY BALD *** HEADED HATING BLACK TROLLOPS ON BOARDS LIKE BLACK HAIR FORUMS AND BLACK BLOGS HATE ON HER. They are jealous cos they cant be her and if they have videos themselves nobody gets as much views as Teyaa does. Ateyaa got fans GLOBALLY- HEAR ME WHEN I SAY GLOBALLY (africa, australia, france, germany, londo n) - SO TELL ME WHY WONT INSECURE *****ES HATE ON HER. WE LOVE ATEYA 4LIFE

Her hair is pretty and looks like it has gotten longer

But her hair part looks weird to me...or maybe its just me

Her hair looks healthy, shiny and very pretty. So glad she overcame that last horrible setback.

It's been shoulder length since I started watching her videos 2 years ago. When I see her grow it at least APL I'll be impressed.

so it's not just me. Thank You!

I totally think she rocks...just wondered if I was the only one who peeped this.

And for the Ateeya fans, I'm not hating or being mean. Its the truth. When I first started watching her I was barely APL and I'm now WL. Im not bragging, but I expect her to at least have more than 1/2 inch of growth in 24 months.

But has Ateeya ever expressed that she wishes to grow her hair to APL or are we just projecting our own expectations onto her?

Contrary to popular belief, everyone is not trying to grow their own hair out like we are...

Well, with the length of most of her weaves, I don't think she would mind having her real, relazed hair reaching those lengths...

I believe she did. Someone said she said so in another Ateyaaa thread.

True...but again...some people actually like wearing weaves and wigs for the variety or a multitude of other reasons. Sometimes she wears short wigs and sometimes they are long.

I am by no stretch an Ateeya stan, however my point is...Who are WE to say where her hair should be? If she is happy with the length and health of her hair then I'm happy for her.

If I stand to be corrected then that's fine...however, what is wrong with her being happy with her progress even if she has not reached a goal of APL?

Nothing of course. Once I reach my desired length I will just maintain the style. I remember her mentioning growing out her hair in the past. If she changed her mind I have no idea since I don't follow her vblog. With all them setbacks and weaves she doesn't look like she has much of a choice.

Again, her hair looks great.

That's what I plan on doing...:yep:

Ateyaa's hair is very pretty and she has made lots of progress since her set back. I enjoy her videos except I wish she would show more of her own hair. She does what she thinks works best for her, so I say to each his/her own. Plus, everyone's hair doesn't grow a foot per month.

Off Topic

I haven't watched an Ateya vid in over a year or so...does she have new teeth or invisalign??

Something looks off about her mouth/teeth...mainly her top teeth.

"Hair teasing." You know how white people use to take hairspray in the 80's and try to make their hair stand up by combing it towards the scalp? Watch her new video and you will see it in action: YouTube - Merry Christmas! Janet Collection Remy Clip-Ons (fast forward to 4:25)
It is not good for the hair because when you backcomb it you are causing the cuticles to roughen and lift. That is why the hair stands up like that.
