Does it say why it matters? I wonder if that's why they always hurt my head.

I guess I really never thought about the design. There must be a reason one side is straight and the other side um, bumpy :look:

Ok per this blog: http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/2011/12/so-what-is-deal-with-bobby-pins-anyway.html

Lets cut to the chase: YES, put your bobby pins in zig zag side down (as in toward the scalp, or with the flat side being exposed). Why? Because it holds better and looks better. The zig zag part of the pin "grabs" the hair beneath the section, and the smooth, straight part of the pin simply holds the hair down. Whether you are hiding your pins completely in a messy updo, or pinning your bangs back, always put them in zig zag side down.

I guess I will try it when I go home.

I never knew people wore it flat side down.......learn something everyday I guess

Oh, stop being a know-it-all. You ain't know...

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen anyone put it flat-side up.

I mean it makes sense. It would seem if you but the bumpy side down it could catch the hair better and the flat-side up would look neater I guess, but still...:spinning:

I dislike bobby pins. I don't know if I ever paid attention to which way I put them in :look: I try to snatch them out almost as soon as I put the in. :nono: I never have them on the outside so they show. I don't like the way they look on top of the hair no matter which side is up.

I'm shocked but now I think about it I realise they look smooth many times I've seen people wearing them visibly.. Damn.

Naw, I decided I was gonna keep living a lie and wearing them wrong. I didn't want anybody else's day to be messed up based off this information. It looks like I can't protect y'all from everything though cause you found out anyway.
