I turned my TWA into a bun...

I was playing around today and figured out how to turn my TWA into a phony bun. (pics in my fotki) I really like it and this means I don't have to wear a wig, scarf or braids all the time. Yay! My hair is way too short to even grab into a real itty, bitty pony so this is big for me:grin:!

Your bun it beautiful and you have a really pretty texture!! Glad you found something that works for you!:yep:

I like it alot and the touch of the scarf....:rolleyes:I am a sucker for scarfs. Ur also very pretty.

If I get a chance this weekend I will post how-to pics...
My hair isn't long enough to pull into a rubber band so I used one of the natural girls best tools, the stocking. I washed my hair and while it was wet I put it around my head starting at the hairline. I tied it and pulled it to tighten my faux afro puff which isn't long enough to pull back very far or to cover the stocking, but I went as far as I could without having my edges pop out of the stocking. I used wavy hair on a track and hairpinned it to the stocking (just like starting a regular phony pony with track weave). Then i wrapped it around my faux puff, pinning as went around. At the end of the track I wrapped hair around the base of the track to conceal it. Then I just hair pinned the weave into a messy bun. Then I threw on the head band for fun:drunk: Hope that helps:spinning: (hopefully I'll get around to taking pics soon)

 WOW!!!!!!! I love it! Great job.

I need to figure out how to do this. Another fabulous option for styling....and another excuse to go and buy some pretty scarfs.

This sounds complicated...:ohwell:

(I would really have to see the pics to know exactly what you are talking about)

Hopefully, this will help make TWA gro-out challenge a little easier!
You have to try this AztheCurlzturns. It's such a nice way to change things up. If you try it, keep us posted on the pics...

It's not hard and it only takes like 10 minutes. NewYorkgyrl it would be even easier for you cuz your hair is so much longer (and very pretty by the way). You can just pull your hair back into a regular pony tail and follow the rest of the steps. I will take step-by-step pics this weekend to show the process clearly.

That is so cute.

Your skin is freaking BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I am jealous. Where is the folded up arms and pouty face emoticon...

I actually like that as a protective style even for those of us with longer hair :yep:

Thanks for the compliment

And I can't wait to see the step by step pics. I'm getting soooo excited. This can really help me later on this year when I am in the hospital doing my rotations. I posted a thread awhile ago about appropriate hairstlyes. If I can learn this then I will be abe to alternate 2-3 stlyes specifically for work.

Thank you sooo much Suerte:drunk:

Nyyorkgirl If this style will help you out, I'm really glad. I believe in being natural and loving your hair and all, but if a piece of weave can get you through the tough times I'm loving it! I just had a thought, you could make things easier on yourself and just use a drawstring pony tail because your hair is long enough to pull into a pony tail. I just had to use the stocking and do this process because my hair is way too short...but, I guess this is a nice technique to have in your stash anyway...

This is a good idea and very cute. Thanks for sharing. We all could us different style ideas.

Dag I forgot all about the draw string pony tails. LOL

I use to wear them when I first strarted ot on LHCH when I was relaxed. I use to baggie and the put on the drawstring pony.

But your style looks so much more natural. I never really liked the drawstring too much. The comb use to hurt my head. And they are soo bulky that is just looks too too fake IMO

I think this look is more classy and fashionable too :yep:

Oh yes, you're definitely right, and I was supposed to be putting braids in my hair last weekend and that didn't even happen. Winded up braiding other people's hair that weekend, then got a couple more braiding to do tomorrow. So maybe sometime this week, I'll get a chance to try your method out and share pics and hopefully if no one needs me next weekend, I'll do my darn braids LOL!

This is cute. Thanks for the explanation. I've been trying to figure out how to make a messy bun with tracks for a minute. It never looks right when I get it up there. I'm gonna try it your way.

I just posted step-by-step photos of the phony bun. I just ran in the bathroom and took down my hair and did it again. The pics aren't super great, but I think it'll help. I hope so...

This looks toooo cute
My hair is just long enough to pull into a pony tail but it's tough.
I need to change it up from the wigs and this will do it for me.
I'm running off to the bbs now :yep::woot:

I'm really glad the pictures helped:yep: and I'm glad you guys like the phony bun as another styling option.

princessdi, I've had that scarf a long time, I think I pilfered it from my mom actually, but I'm gonna keep that quiet...

This is a great idea. Never thought about using a scarf (or headbands) to cover the part that isn't long enough to reach into the pony. If will definitely be trying this after my next shampoo. Thanks for sharing! :)
